READY TO WELCOME HOME BABY BOOTH NO. 2!
It’s been an exciting spring for us at the Booth home. By the time you read this, we will likely have welcomed a new member to our family. Katie and I are expecting our second baby boy any day now. It’s an incredible time. Owen, our first child, is 3 now, and he’s thrilled about the prospect of having a little brother. He keeps talking about all the things he’s going to teach his sibling: how to ride a bike, how to swim, and how to jump off furniture (we discouraged that last one). Owen is growing up so fast. He started preschool last fall, and he loves to be outdoors. He’s always ready for an adventure, whether it’s riding his bike around the block or taking part in a neighborhood activity with his mom and me. Recently, he started swimming lessons, and we love watching him improve with each practice. The last three years have been a joy-filled adventure, and we could not be more excited to add to our family and watch another child go through each stage of toddlerhood. They say it takes a village, and we’re blessed to have supportive people all around us who want to be a part of Owen’s life. His grandparents have been very involved, as I’m sure they will be with our next son. Owen spends Mondays and Tuesdays with Katie’s parents and Wednesdays and Thursdays with mine. Katie and I usually have Fridays off together, which means we have three-day weekends to spend as a family, a luxury we are grateful for. We’re excited to share the beautiful Idaho outdoors with our new baby so that hopefully he comes to appreciate it as much as Owen does. We already have a few camping trips lined up for the summer, including a trip to Redfish in July. This is an annual
adventure for us, and we love to go fishing, boating, and hiking beneath the spectacular skyline of the Sawtooths. Owen, of course, has been eager for Easter because it means a visit from the Easter Bunny. We usually go to an egg hunt, though, this year it will depend on how we all feel with a new baby at home. We might just enjoy the holiday here, treasuring the time we get to spend together (probably with a few treats for Owen).
As a parent and dentist, I try to limit the amount of sugar Owen eats, and that gets tricky around candy-filled holidays like Easter. I know it’s not always an option to avoid it altogether, so limiting it is my strategy. As long as it’s in moderation and Owen is still brushing and flossing, it’s okay if he indulges a bit. I’ll usually limit him to just a small bit of candy instead of letting him go crazy with a basket full.
We hope you enjoy your Easter and spring weather as much as we do. From our family to yours, happy April and happy Easter!
