Talking With Sandy Summers Of The WORCESTER COUNTY HUMANE SOCIEITY

What new is going on with the WCHS? TheWorcester County Humane Society is happy to announce that we will be opening a Thrift Store late April/early May on Sunset Avenue in West OC. The mission of the Thrift Store is to raise funds to help support themany animals that call the shelter home and allow us to help many more animals in need. We will also be opening a low cost spay and neuter clinic late spring on Route 611 in West OC. Our upcoming event is our 5th Annual Pars for Paws Golf Tournament to be held at Eagles Landing Golf Course on Thursday, May 31st with a 12:30 Shotgun Start. Can you tell me how many animals does the WCHS support a year? We house approximately 200 cats and 25 dogs at any given time. Last yr we took in 378 animals, adopted out 313, returned 34 to owners and spayed and neutered 224 animals. We are also opening a low cost spay and neuter clinic early Spring on 611 in West OC. The average expense to care for a single healthy cat or dog is $1900 per yr. What is the long termgoal of theWCHS? With our low cost spay and neuter clinic, it will help to reduce pet overpopulation. The clinic will be open to the public. What is the difference between the WCHS and other shelters? We are a true NO-KILL shelter. All of our animals have a home until they find their forever homes.
