Purpose of the Post At this crucial time for climate action, the Sustainability Manager will play a key role in ensuring the implementation of Imperial College’s Sustainability Strategy 2021-2026 is realised along with our net zero carbon 2040 goal. In the context of global efforts and agreements on climate change and growing emphasis on sustainability in higher education, you will work with staff and students across the College, from our word-leading sustainability research institutes to key operational staff, as well as external partners. Working closely with all areas of the Estates Operations team and the Academic Leader for Sustainability, you will provide crucial oversight and organisation for priority initiatives, including: • Creating and nurturing a sustainability culture and community for staff and students, to ensure that sustainability is embedded in all day-to-day College operations (for example, construction, greening of campuses, catering, teaching and learning, student accommodation). • Engaging internal and external stakeholders and raising awareness of sustainability activities across operations, research, education and innovation. • Creating and implementing an action plan to deliver the Sustainability Strategy and monitoring progress in achieving these targets. • Developing a long-term action plan to reduce the carbon emissions of the College Estate.
