WELLNESS TIPS FOR THE NEW YEAR

PATIENT SUCCESS SPOTLIGHT

Thank you very much!

“I am very happy about my treatment here at Melissa Physical Therapy. I came here in a lot of pain and when I left I was very happy. I could do my things at home where I couldn’t do before, like lifting things, mopping floors, walking or sitting down. I recommend this place for anyone who has pain in their back or arms. They treat you very well. Thank you very much.” – Juanita .V

Do you use the new year as an annual health seminar with yourself? Here’s a list of simple wellness tips. Cheers to a healthy and happy new year. 1. Drink half your body weight in water When the body is dehydrated, it doesn’t run efficiently. Drinking water has plenty of benefits including increasing energy, flushing out toxins, improving skin complexion and boosting immunity, to name a few. To determine your normal hydration needs, calculate your body weight in pounds, then divide it by two and drink that many ounces of water each day. 2. Start the morning with a hydrating warm drink I choose warm water and lemon because I like the taste. I’ve also seen apple cider vinegar concoctions that rehydrate and influence the body’s alkaline state, which has been noted for added health benefits. Drink these before coffee and breakfast for instant energy, likely from the rehydration process. 3. Be active daily Aim for 30 minutes of activity daily. Break it up throughout the day: 10 minutes before work, 10 minutes afterwards and 10 minutes home with the kids. Exercise is more effective when it is regular and systematic. It can be difficult to schedule exercise unless time is pre-committed. If you need help with exercise or if you have pain that is holding you back, contact us at Physical Therapy Of Melissa and we can help you meet this resolution. Good luck.
