come across has more stubble, a longer beard, or an unusual mustache. This year, the men at Farmingdale Physical Therapy West will be joining in the hairy phenomenon. Do you know why? Have you ever asked one of these hairy gentlemen what prompted them to “let it grow”? Wonder no more...the answer is cancer prevention & awareness. In the fall of 2009 “No-Shave.org” was founded to help raise awareness and funds for the prevention and treatment of cancer. Since then the movement has grown and gained national attention. The movement encourages participants to “grow awareness by embracing our hair, which many cancer patients lose, and letting it grow wild and free.” Nearly half of cancer diagnosis and deaths are preventable; No-shave November seeks to increase awareness in the general public of the roles our choices and lifestyles have in developing cancer or detecting it early. “The big C”...cancer...it’s a word no one wants to hear, but it’s a word that over 1.5 million people in this country face down every year. Cancer has
touched nearly everyone in some form; either you are a cancer warrior yourself or you know someone battling cancer, or you have lost a loved one to cancer. Our male staffers have committed to putting down their razor in order to raise your awareness this month. We have partnered with the No-Shave November Foundation to help raise money this November for their partners: “Prevent Cancer Foundation”, “Fight Colorectal Cancer”, and “St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital”. We simply “mustache” you to please stop by our Bethpage or Ronkonkomaoffices,sayhianddropyourshaving money into the jar at the front desk, or head over to our fundraising website, https://no-shave.org/ member/FPTW to make a donation.
