WELCOME TO THE WILD WORLD OF MEDICARE INSURANCE SALES Or, Why You’re Getting 47 Calls a Day and a Coverage That Doesn't Exist

Let’s get one thing out of the way: You’re not crazy.

“I believe in giving you the truth , the full story , and a recommendation that puts your needs first . Not my commission. Not my quota.”

If you feel like you're living in a world where your phone rings off the hook with strangers offering you a better Medicare plan

or eternal youth (okay, maybe not that last one), you’re not imagining things. You're just in the crosshairs of one of the most aggressive sales machines ever built: the Medicare insurance call center.

So, when my clients say, “ I must be getting 30 or 40 days of calls in one day, ” they're actually right. It’s not just you. You're getting blitzed by machines designed to win at the numbers game.

Let me give you a peek behind the curtain.

Call Centers, Intuitive Dialers, and the Miracle of Math

Why You? The System Knows Who Picks Up

Call centers are where Medicare sales get supercharged. We're talking rooms full of 100 agents armed with intuitive dialers , fancy computers that can dial up to 50 phone numbers at once . Yes, at once.

It gets better (or worse, depending on your perspective). The system is smart. It tracks who answers , how long you stay on the line, and whether you sound interested. If you answer once and listen for five minutes? Boom. You're marked as "hot."

When the first person picks up the phone, the other 49 calls get dropped like hot potatoes. That person — you, most likely — has just won the telemarketer lottery . Congratulations!

Then come the reinforcements.

You’ll get more calls, more emails, more texts, and more junk mail than a holiday weekend sale at Bed Bath & Beyond.

Let’s break this down with some quick math (because why not make this more fun?):

And here’s the kicker: If you ever filled out an online form , downloaded a “Free Medicare Guide,” or clicked on an ad for Medicare, you may have unknowingly given permission for a licensed insurance agents to contact you — for up to 12 months .

One agent dials 50 numbers and talks to one person for 15 minutes.

That’s about 200 people dialed per hour , and four conversations an hour.

Yes. Twelve months. A whole year you get a phone that never stops ringing.

In an eight-hour day, that’s 1,600 people dialed and 32 conversations .

What They Don’t Tell You Now, not every licensed insurance agent is lying. Some really are just trying to help.

Now, if that same agent only spends 10 minutes per call (more realistic), the dialer can churn through 300 people an hour , and that’s 48 people spoken to in a day. Yes, in one day.

Medicare Insurance Made Easy

... CONTINUED FROM COVER

But here’s where it gets slippery.

They’ll tell you about all the shiny new coverage of their plan, but they may leave out that your current plan already has those coverages . Or better.

They’ll use scare tactics:

• “Medicare Advantage plans are going away!”

• “No hospitals are taking your plan anymore!”

• “Medicare Supplement plans are going up to $700/month!”

These are designed to freak you out . And when you're nervous or confused, you’re more likely to say yes.

Not what a call center agent somewhere in Florida is trying to hit this week.

And sometimes, you won’t even realize you're enrolling in a new plan.

All it takes is giving your Medicare number and saying “yes” to a few scripted lines, and suddenly, boom. You're switched. No paperwork. No signatures. Just a few “harmless” questions and poof , new plan. Clairvoyant Agents and the Crystal Ball of Sales Here’s a fun one: Some licensed insurance agents will tell you all your doctors are in-network and all your medications are covered … without even asking for the names.

But because of all the noise — and all the confusion it creates — I'm working harder than ever this Medicare Annual Election Period.

Bev and I are running full tilt, seven days a week.

My assistants are typing their fingers numb entering your medications and checking your doctors.

That’s not customer service. That’s clairvoyance.

We’re answering calls, replying to emails, and sorting through every change in every plan for 2026.

We’re tired, sure, but we’re grateful. Because you trust us , and that means everything.

So, if you haven’t yet sent your medications or reached out, do it now . Dec. 7 is the deadline, and after that, the window closes until next year.

The Bottom Line There are a lot of loud voices shouting for your attention.

Some are honest.

Spoiler alert: They’re guessing. And they’re not always right. That “new plan” might not cover your doctor, or might charge three times as much for your prescriptions.

Many are not.

I’m here to give you the truth, check every detail, and make sure you're in the right plan for your health, your doctors, your medications, and your budget.

Which is why I always triple-check your doctors and your meds before recommending a change.

Thanks for your patience, your good humor, and your trust.

Why I’m Writing You This (and Working 7 Days a Week) Look, I’m not proud of the shady stuff that happens in my industry. I know exactly how bad it gets. That’s why I don’t play those games.

Now, excuse me, I think my phone just rang 50 times.

There’s something very special about the grandchild-grandparent relationship. While parents often must play the role of disciplinarian so their kids stay out of trouble and become the best version of themselves, grandparents get to spoil and pamper the grandchildren. Most grandparents want this relationship to be as strong as possible, but it’s easier said than done, especially if you only see your grandkids a few times each year. Here are three strategies you can implement to strengthen your relationship with your grandchildren while allowing you to make memories to last for the rest of their lives. Take advantage of holidays. The holiday season is a time for families to get together, participate in time-honored traditions, and share their love for one another. Make sure you set aside time for your grandkids. Show them your favorite holiday movies, encourage them to help cook a few dishes, and involve them in your traditions and activities. Once you establish these activities, pay attention to how your grandchildren react. If they enjoy them, do it again next year! Prioritize outings over gifts. Take a second to think about the best gift you received during your childhood. Now, imagine the best trip, vacation, or family outing you had as a kid. Which memory is stronger? You likely can’t even remember a specific gift you received, but those memories of trips to the zoo, beach, or mall have remained strong. Instead of spending hundreds of dollars on gifts, consider taking your grandchildren out for an evening together. Do what they want to do. To put it simply, your grandchildren will only get so much enjoyment participating in your favorite activities or regular routine. Figure out what they like and participate in those activities right alongside them. They’ll never forget the day they saw grandma ride around in a go- kart, grandpa win the big prize at the arcade, or their grandparents adding the finishing touches to an art masterpiece! MEANINGFUL WAYS TO CONNECT WITH YOUR GRANDKIDS CREATE MEMORIES THAT LAST

Turn Lazy Sundays Into Your Productivity Power Hour

No More Manic Mondays Sunday Habits That Set You Up for the Week

After a long week of work, many Americans relax, participate in their hobbies, and try to avoid increased responsibilities during the weekend. While this can be beneficial for your mental health, have you ever felt like your week was off to a rough start as soon as Monday rolled around? There’s nothing wrong with relaxing on the weekend, but putting aside your responsibilities for a few days can put you behind the eight ball.

You don’t need to set aside your Sunday to deep-clean the house from top to bottom, but adding beneficial habits to the final day of the weekend can ensure every week starts on the right foot. Declutter Decluttering and clearing your space will directly impact your mental state. This can be an overwhelming task at times, especially if you have a house full of kids, but you can make it manageable by keeping up with it every week. It might be easier once the kids go to bed, but take a few minutes every Sunday to walk through your house and pick up any items off the floor, on furniture, and anywhere else they may be lying. Plan Ahead Nothing will better prepare you for the week ahead than planning. Look through

your work schedule and your kids’ calendars to make sure you’re aware of upcoming events, games, or practices. You could also consider meal prepping if the upcoming week looks busier than usual. To take it a step further, prepack your kids’ lunches, lay out clothes for the workweek, and write down additional responsibilities you’ll have throughout the week. Light Cleaning As stated earlier, you don’t need to deep- clean every week, but your home will look much better if you establish weekly light cleaning behaviors. Wipe down the surfaces in your kitchen, clean the windows, and give your floor some love by mopping, vacuuming, or sweeping. If you have the time and energy, consider doing a load of laundry or two. These little tasks will add up, making your house consistently sparkle.
