Une vingtaine de moulins à battre ont participé au défilé de machineries agricoles antiques, qui a eu lieu le 3 août dernier. Les machines ont parcouru près de 80 km, de Saint-Eugène à Saint- Albert, le tout en 9 heures. Ce défilé servait à faire la promotion du record Guinness qui aura lieu à Saint- Albert, les 15 et 16 août prochain. C’est François Latour, l’organisateur du record mondial, qui a d’ailleurs ac- cueilli les machines à Saint-Albert en fin d’après-midi. Le défilé était une initiative de Denis Lauzon, le vice-président du

comité organisateur. Le record Guinness, organisé dans le cadre du Festival de la Curd, a comme objectif de réunir le plus grand nombre de moulins à battre antiques qui fonc- tionnent en même temps. Jusqu’à présent, le comité affirme avoir réuni plus de 80 machines, alors que le nombre à surpasser est de 41 machines datant du 20 e siècle. Ce record a été établi en novembre 2013, en Saskatchewan, où les batteuses antiques ont battu du grain pendant 15 minutes.
