How a Dental Crown Can Enhance Your Smile
Dental crowns are famous for creating brilliant smiles, but they can do much more. Not only are dental caps used for smile makeovers, but they also help to repair teeth that would otherwise need to be removed. Placing crowns is among the most common dental restoration procedures we perform here at Ustick Dental. Dental restorations are the treatments that restore structural integrity to your teeth, thus enhancing your tooth functionality. You may need a dental restoration in cases of missing teeth, chipped or broken teeth, fractured or knocked-out teeth, etc. There are many types of dental restorations, but dental crowns are one of the sturdiest and most effective treatments available compared to other restoration procedures. Dental crowns are tooth-shaped caps that can be made from several types of materials: metal alloys, ceramics, porcelain, and porcelain fused to metal or composite resin. When creating the crown, the material is often tooth-colored to blend in with your existing teeth. A natural look and comfortable fit are two important factors when fitting a crown. In order to decide which material to use for your crown, we will consider many factors, such as:
• • • •
Tooth location and function Position of the gum tissue
The amount of tooth that shows when you smile
Color or shade of the surrounding teeth
A dental crown is an excellent solution for many tooth problems and can provide sturdy, long-lasting results. Some other benefits include:
•
Relieving discomfort
• Supporting a tooth that has been significantly damaged by decay • Protecting a tooth that has worn away from being damaged further • Protecting a tooth after a root canal procedure • Holding a severely cracked or broken tooth together • Covering a dental implant Most would assume a dental restoration treatment would be complicated or intense by default, but placing a dental crown is a simple procedure. They are minimally invasive and custom-made for you.
