thrust of God in the lives of men! It was the thrust of the Holy Ghost in the Church, which at that time ap peared as but a tiny capsule upon the face of the earth, a small band of weak and uninfluential men and wom en. But that original thrust was so great that 3,000 were won to Christ on that one day. This power is still necessary today. And thank God it is still available. The power of God’s Holy Spirit is sufficient and ready to enable the Church to complete her orbital min istry of carrying the gospel around the world, to the ends of the earth, What the Church needs today is a new refueling, and a recognition of divine power. As the cost of sending Colonel Glenn around the earth three times must have been astronomical, so is the cost to the Church of evangeliz ing the world. It cost Christ separa tion from heaven, humiliation upon earth, and the sufferings on the cross to make atonement for sin. He paid His part of the cost. He finished that work. It inevitably remains if the Church is to fulfill the divine com mission and carry the message of this gospel to the world, she too has a price to pay. We cannot evangelize the world on nickels and dimes, or even dollars. We cannot evangelize the world on left-overs, or upon things we can give without missing. It cannot be done with tin banks on the dining room table, or with soups and suppers served by ladies’ aids in the churches. It will demand sacrifice. It will cost. Very few Christians today are willing to face the price and to pay it. God’s people must be willing to dig deep into their resources, and to match the power of the Holy Ghost which is available to us all with the financial power required in the program of evangelizing the world. This is the thrust which is needed today. We can not continue to indulge ourselves in luxuries and self-pleasure if we would complete the task of evangelizing the world. There must be men and wom en of God who are willing to sacrifice, who are willing not only to give up all they have, but even risk their lives if necessary, in order that the story of God’s salvation be told to our race and our generation. Spiritual power and monetary pow er: these seem like contradictions. And yet they are not contraditions; they must become parallel. With the power of the Holy Spirit in the lives of men and women, and the financial power of God’s people released to stand behind them in this day and hour, the world can be orbited with the gospel.
