PATIENT SUCCESS STORY

In light of our Pediatric Center and Better Hearing and Speech Month, we are celebrating Casen’s success story! Sometimes watching your children not reach milestones can be discouraging and worrying. When Casen wasn’t communicating the way children typically do at his age, speech therapy helped him learn to communicate with those around him. Check out his story! “Casen never really started speaking. Kids can start speaking at a year or earlier, and he started to say mama, daddy and bubba, but then after a few weeks, he wouldn’t say any words.

He would grunt, point, and have his own language; this was pretty much to tell you what he wanted or the things he was seeing. If he saw a bee, he would pinch himself to let you know it would sting him. At his two year check up, they referred him to speech therapy. At the end of October, within even just two or three weeks, he started saying mama, bubba and daddy again. He was making different words and sounds - or at least trying to. He went to speech therapy with Stephanie for 13 weeks or so, and did really well. Our last two appointments were at the new Pediatric Center, and it was cute as can be. Stephanie was great with him, and Casen loved her. He’s not exactly where he should be right now, but he’s within the normal limits for his age. Anyone who knows him knows that he went from saying nothing, to now making some sentences and is able to get his point across. It made a huge difference!”
