Description: During the August 5, 1998 Regular Meeting (Item #98-1073), the Board of Commissioners voted to hire an attorney to represent and legally advise the Grievance Review Committee at all grievance proceedings. The attorney will also provide legal assistance when deemed necessary.This board was established by the Board of Commissioners at its Special Meeting on June 4, 1980, to review and make determinations regarding employee grievances, pursuant to Fulton County Procedure #100-24, in the County Procedures Manual. On September 19, 2018 (item# 18-0671) the Board of Commissioners approved a resolution authorizing an increase of a stipend to the community member of the Fulton County Grievance Review Committee in the amount of $150 for each day that the member participates in hearings held by the Fulton County Grievance Review Committee. At the July 10, 2024 First Regular Meeting, the Fulton County Board of Commissioners adopted an Ordinance (#24-0488) amending Chapter 101 (General Provisions and County Governing Authority), Article 2 (County Governing Authority), Division I (Generally), to create a new Section 101-76 of the Fulton County Code of Laws to provide procedures for District and Full Board appointments to the Boards, Commissions, Taskforces, Committees, Councils and Authorities affiliated with, or operating on behalf of Fulton County, Georgia, to provide that all appointees serve at the pleasure of either the nominating Commissioner for District appointments or the Board of Commissioners for Full Board appointments. Membership/Appointment: Consists of five (5) members. Two (2) members shall be appointed by the County Manager from the Fulton County workforce for staggered terms of two (2) years each, Two (2) members shall be elected by County- wide election. The term of office for such members shall be two (2) years. One (1) member shall be selected from the community by the Committee. (Personnel Procedure 309-16).
