Get to Know Yadira! A Source of Comfort and Care

It’s not uncommon for people to fear the dentist. In fact, the Cleveland Clinic claims that over one-third of our country has a fear of dental treatment. This fear often stems from incidents in an individual’s youth and follows them well into adulthood. However, dental fear and anxiety do not have to last a lifetime. By finding the right dentist and having a comfortable appointment, anyone can relieve dental fear and get the treatment they need. At Caring Modern Dentistry, it’s our goal to ensure every appointment, whether a simple check-up or an advanced treatment, is as comfortable for our patients as possible. That’s why we go above and beyond to hire caring and compassionate team members. We want people who are going to do what they can to put our patients at ease. A few months ago, we hired Yadira to our team as our new dental assistant, and in her short time here, she has excelled at helping our patients feel more comfortable whenever they walk through our doors. Although Yadira has only been in our office for a couple of months, she came with a few years of experience. When determining her career path, her dad suggested that Yadira and her sisters explore the dentistry industry

so they could one day open their own practice. Yadira thought this was a great option and looked into becoming a hygienist. When exploring dental hygiene programs, someone told Yadira that the best way to decide if this was the right career path for her was to attend dental assisting school first. She enrolled, graduated, and fell in love with the role, making her decision to become a full-time dental assistant effortless. Since joining our team, Yadira has loved nearly every moment. “I am enjoying this office a lot. I love the atmosphere and coworkers. We have a lot of fun together, finding little moments to laugh and smile about. I’m also learning many new things here!” she says. While Yadira has enjoyed working with her coworkers, she also takes pride in assisting patients and helping them improve their smiles and confidence. “I love seeing our patients leave happy, especially when they come in insecure about their smile,” Yadira says. “Whether it’s big or small things, we can help fix it, which allows them to leave feeling confident.” If you’re afraid of visiting the dentist and getting treatment, Yadira understands the challenge you face

and is here to put you at ease. “We’re here to help you feel comfortable, even though this is a lot of people’s least favorite place to be. Don’t be scared or afraid to visit us!” Outside the office, Yadira loves spending time with her and her husband’s families. She’s also big into organizing and cleaning. While some people might not enjoy spending part of their weekend cleaning the house, Yadira finds it therapeutic. Organizing her house helps her calm down and relax! When you come in for your next appointment, Yadira will likely be working chairside, ready to assist you with your dental needs. You can rest assured knowing you’re in good hands! -Dr. Adams

Backyard Camping Made Easy PITCH A TENT TO MAKE MEMORIES

Camping is an excellent way for families to disconnect from their devices and spend time together — but traveling to a campsite isn’t always feasible. Instead of forgoing this treasured summer activity, think outside the box and discover the best campsite you’ll ever pitch a tent in — your own backyard. Here are our two tips for success. MAKE A PACT TO STAY OUTSIDE (NO CHEATING)! If you’re going to pretend you’re camping, you have to commit fully. That means no running into the house except for bathroom breaks or emergencies! To ensure you don’t disrupt your fun, pitch your tent and set up your campsite, double-checking that everything you need is present and in working order. It’s also not a bad idea to stash extra supplies (like batteries) or a first-aid kit in a tote before heading outside.

And don’t forget the cooler! Stock it with juice boxes and other cold beverages or fruit, plus easy-to-heat- and-eat foods like hot dogs, cans of soup, or even store-bought camping meals you simply add boiling water to. GET CREATIVE WITH CAMPFIRE CUISINE. The best part of camping is the time spent around the campfire, and mealtimes are an ideal excuse for this summer tradition. Don’t have a fire pit? No problem! A charcoal grill works just as well. Roasting hot dogs on sticks over a bonfire is a classic camping experience your kids will remember forever. Buying extra sticks, chocolate, graham crackers, and marshmallows make crafting s’mores a breeze. Are you looking for something a little healthier? Foil packets filled with rice, proteins, vegetables, and

flavorful liquids like broth or wine can be placed near the fire for hands- free cooking. Get creative with your dishes, and you might discover a new family favorite to add to your weekly rotation — or to savor and keep as a campground specialty. You might forget you never left home as you tell spooky stories, go on scavenger hunts in your yard, and enjoy other campsite activities or games. Camping doesn’t have to happen at some exotic location — what matters is time spent together unplugged from your tech and plugged into nature.

Restore Your Smile The Art and Science of Dentures

When you learn you need dentures, you may worry about the process and how this change will affect your life going forward. Dentures are likely much more common than you realize. Over 35 million Americans don’t have any teeth, and 90% of these individuals have complete dentures. Various warning signs may signal you need dentures. Dentures are often a solution for anyone experiencing loose teeth, infected gums due to periodontal disease, gaps due to missing teeth, severe toothache, frequent indigestion, or difficulty eating certain foods. Everyone’s situation is unique, and having one of the above symptoms won’t always lead to dentures, but you must talk with your dentist if you’re experiencing any of these issues. Even if dentures aren’t the best solution, we can find a path to help you feel more comfortable and confident with your smile.

If your dentist determines that partial or complete dentures are in your best interest, you’ll go through a multi-step process to ensure they fit your mouth perfectly. It starts with the initial assessment and impressions. By studying your oral health and taking X-rays, we can determine if dentures are the right solution for your problem. If they are, the dentist will take an impression and create a model of your future dentures. After choosing materials, you’ll try a temporary set created from your model. Once you confirm the fit, appearance, and comfort are where they should be, your dentures will be made. Your dentist will do a final fitting to ensure everything works properly before you’re sent home with your new oral appliance.

If you need dentures or have any questions about the process, call us today!

A Closer Look at Potatoes’ Vital Role in Health

Why Potatoes Deserve a Place on Your Plate

Are potatoes good for your health? Misconceptions abound about the humble spud, one of the most widely eaten foods in the world (third most popular, behind rice and wheat).
