Restore Your Smile The Art and Science of Dentures

When you learn you need dentures, you may worry about the process and how this change will affect your life going forward. Dentures are likely much more common than you realize. Over 35 million Americans don’t have any teeth, and 90% of these individuals have complete dentures. Various warning signs may signal you need dentures. Dentures are often a solution for anyone experiencing loose teeth, infected gums due to periodontal disease, gaps due to missing teeth, severe toothache, frequent indigestion, or difficulty eating certain foods. Everyone’s situation is unique, and having one of the above symptoms won’t always lead to dentures, but you must talk with your dentist if you’re experiencing any of these issues. Even if dentures aren’t the best solution, we can find a path to help you feel more comfortable and confident with your smile.

If your dentist determines that partial or complete dentures are in your best interest, you’ll go through a multi-step process to ensure they fit your mouth perfectly. It starts with the initial assessment and impressions. By studying your oral health and taking X-rays, we can determine if dentures are the right solution for your problem. If they are, the dentist will take an impression and create a model of your future dentures. After choosing materials, you’ll try a temporary set created from your model. Once you confirm the fit, appearance, and comfort are where they should be, your dentures will be made. Your dentist will do a final fitting to ensure everything works properly before you’re sent home with your new oral appliance.
