A GREAT YEAR FOR GOOD NEWS JANUARY 2025
VISIONARY TRAINERS TRANSFORMING HOSPITALITY
Year Two Survey: Launching the 2025 Hospitality Training 360 Report Requesting participation from all member companies, please!
A Key Strategy for CHART: To understand training and human resources priorities and trends through current RESEARCH. To SHARE this information with members!
🔑
While we recognize that filling out a survey is a big request, we hope that being able to benchmark training spends and trends is an even greater reward! Last year, in collaboration with our partner
Opus Training, we launched the Hospitality Training 360 Report. We hope the 2024 report helped you advocate for and prioritize your training programs. The new 2025 survey is now live (until January 17), and we invite you to fill it out so we can get the most robust data possible. This allows us to report accurate information and to do targeted reports by industry segment, such as lodging and quick serve vs. full-service restaurants. To make this as easy as possible for you, we’ve made the survey questions available in advance so you can gather the information before starting the survey. You should have received an email with this link in mid-December. You can also access it on the survey intro page here:
www.surveymonkey.com/r/P5WNSVQ All responses will initiate a $5 donation to the CHART scholarship fund for hospitality college students. PLUS, enter your email address upon survey submission to win a $200 cash gift card.

CHART Year in Review
Let’s take a moment to smell the
PresidenTalks Step By Step
I always start the year off (as many people do) with a fresh set of plans to execute on. I’m a Virgo, planning is what I do best! As training leaders, thinking ahead (i.e. thinking strategically) and planning are part of our core nature. This is a necessary skill to meet the requirements of the business units and support the success of the organization overall. (Cue the 2025 Strategic Business Plan!)
My tattoo I got in France back in 2020, which translates to “take the first step.”
CHART President Dr. Felicia White, Ed.D, CHT
However, if you are anything like me, you might at times miss what is happening in the current moment because of the busyness of planning for the next moment. Now don’t get me wrong, it is important to plan, strategize, and set goals. Just don’t forget to be present for the experience of executing, because it is from these experiences that the learning occurs. This is even more important when things do not seem to go as planned, because you know what they say about the best made plans… On September 12, 1962, at an event hosted by the New York State Civil War Commission to commemorate the 100th Anniversary of the Preliminary Emancipation Proclamation, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. delivered a speech in which he discussed the history of human rights in the United States, and how the Declaration of Independence and the Emancipation Proclamation had not fully achieved equality for all citizens. It is during this speech Dr. King made the famous statement “Faith is taking the first step even when you don't see the whole staircase.” As I go through 2025, I will remind myself to experience the moment of climbing each step on each staircase I have planned to climb, and to not be discouraged when the steps do not lead where I planned, because I can learn from the lessons of each step. Here's to a year of learning, sharing, growing, and caring — one step at a time. Happy New Year!

Volunteer Co-Director Dina Taher GM Hiring and Development Manager, InTown Suites Q: What can always make you feel better, after a hard day? A: Well, let me tell you, a long pour of Pinot Noir is like liquid therapy—except it doesn’t judge you for eating a whole pizza by yourself! My ultimate mood lifter? Singing along to Travis Tritt's "It's a Great Day to Be Alive." And let’s be real, if you can call my voice "singing," then I guess karaoke counts as a horror show! But hey, at least my neighbors are getting their cardio from running away! Facilities Co-Director Trevor Mullins Director of Operational Training, Commerce, Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma A: What can always make you feel better, after a hard day? Q: Blasting Peyton Parrish’s cover of Hercules “Go the Distance.” Service Co-Director Winona Bullis Director of Training, GoTo Foods Q: What’s your favorite thing about yourself? A: I feel that I am very approachable and genuinely enjoy learning about people.

Manager of Training, Live Nation Entertainment Q: What can always make you feel better, after a hard day? A: Taking my son Cayden to the park. We get to breathe in fresh air, feel the sun on our faces, and get to do one of my favorite pastimes from my childhood – swing on the swings. That time together allows me to recenter after a hard day, and fill my heart with joy while creating fun memories. And walking there allows me to get some miles in. It's the perfect adventure. First Time Attendee Co-Director Anna Mason Sr. Director of People Experience, A.Ray Hospitality Q: What word would your friends use to describe you? A: I would like to think that “loyalty” would come to my friends’ minds when asked a word that describes me. I strive to always be supportive and steadfast in my relationships.
