HOOVER TROPHYCLASS C12 – Lot 33 Candid photo at 6 months of age
+ C198 is a long bodied, clean fronted bull with good quarter and thickness. Use on heifers, then when he gets too big for heifers, use him on cows without sacrificing growth. + C198 has the 3 rd biggest Scrotal EPD of any bull selling – not only an important trait for a bull himself, but for the fertility of his daughters too! + Dam Z75’s first calf works for repeat customer Chris Nelson. He was the 10 th top weaning weight bull of his crop and sold for $10,500. C198 was Z75’s second calf. Her calving interval will shorten to less than 365 days when she calves in early February this year. + Please read about grandam P33 in the footnote of her really nice son, Lot 33. If you are wanting two bulls from the same cow family to retain daughters from, consider both of these bulls! + Please read about Pathfinder great grandam J162 in the footnote of Lot 37. J162 is found in the pedigrees of Lots 33-37. + This pedigree is really cool – starting with great grandam L233, there are six consecutive generations of Pathfinder cows down the dam’s side of this pedigree – I believe this is the only cow family in the herd that can lay claim to this feat – it is exceptionally rare!

+ C12 is a calm, deep chested, level topped, thick bull! He’s one of my favorites! C12 is backed by highly maternal traits as well as good carcass qualities – don’t hesitate to save daughters from C12 and feed out his steer sons on the grid. We recommend him for large framed, well-developed heifers or cows. + C12 ties with the 2 nd highest CEM EPD of any bull selling and has one of the top Milk EPDs! He is also the #1 Heifer Pregnancy (HP) EPD bull to sell! These things help make him the 3 rd highest $Maternal Value bull in the sale! Those traits all feed into the $Combined Value where he has the 2 nd highest of any bull in the sale! + Genomics has pegged C12 as a really unique animal in regards to Carcass Weight (CW) and Mature Weight (MW) – generally we find high CW cattle are also high MW cattle – they have more pounds to sell, but they also have higher inputs as mature cows. However, C12 has the best of both worlds – he has a high CW and a low MW – truly the ideal scenario for commercial cattlemen retaining ownership on their steers and saving replacement daughters. Also, he would be an ideal bull for areas of the country that are limited in feed resources. + Dam P33 is one of the herd’s great cows – she has a 357 day calving interval on her 8 progeny and is still in the herd and doing great – she’ll be 10 years old by sale day. + These highly maternal traits are reflected in P33’s $M – she is the #1 $M Hoover- owned female among over 500+ females! + Two of P33’s past progeny have been photo features in our auction – both selected by Miller Angus of Draper, SD. The bull was the $23,000 5 th top-selling and 2 nd biggest ribeye scanning bull of his crop. The heifer was the #1 IMF scanning sale heifer. Brady Wolfgram and Patrick Plant selected her other two progeny. + P33 has put two impressive daughters in the herd – one has a son selling as Lot 34. A third daughter, one of my favorites of her crop, is entering the replacement herd this year. + P33 is a unique cow that not only puts highly maternal qualities in her progeny, but good carcass traits too – she has an incredible 7-114 IMF ratio and 7-110 ribeye ratio! + This pedigree is really cool – starting with grandam L233, there are six consecutive generations of Pathfinder cows down the dam’s side of this pedigree – I believe this is the only cow family in the herd that can lay claim to this feat – it is exceptionally rare! + I’ve talked so much I have to really summarize grandam L233 – she ended her career with 10 calves at a 361 day calving interval! She put 5 replacement daughters in the herd. + Please read about Pathfinder great grandam J162 in the footnote of Lot 37.

+ C80 has a lot to him – he’s deep bodied and attractive! He’s got the classic General Lee phenotype. He is likely best suited for use on cows. + C80 has the #1 Docility EPD in today’s sale and has one of the best Hair Shed EPDs! C80 has one of the top $Maternal Values of any bull in the sale too! + Dam X29 is a young cow whose first daughter went back into our replacement herd and is doing a nice job. Her first son works for repeat customer Howard Belgarde. Howard used to live locally, but then moved to Oklahoma. He came back to buy his bulls at Hoovers last year as he can’t find the quality of bulls he is looking for in his new state. + X29 is a fertile cow with a 359 day calving interval, which will tighten up significantly when she will be one of our first cows to calve in 2025. + Pathfinder grandam L233 has been an exceptional cow, putting five replacement daughters in the herd. + L233’s progeny work for Brett Barnett (a daughter and a featured son), Jamie Isane, Casey Miller, Walbridge Farm and Richard & Jason Swaney. Swaney’s bull was the #1 weaning weight bull of his crop! + Beginning with L233, there are six consecutive generations of Pathfinder cows down the cow line of this pedigree – this is the longest consecutive stretch I know of in the Hoover herd, and an exceptionally rare find! In any given year, about ½ of 1% of current dams earn the Pathfinder honor. + Fertility is strong in this cow family, with L233 recording 10 calves at a 361 day calving interval. + Please read about Pathfinder great grandam J162 in the footnote of Lot 37. J162 is found in the pedigrees of Lots 33-37.
