Bull Boarding
Sale Bulls Take your bull(s) sale day or Wednesday, February 5 directly from the Hoover Angus sale facility to receive a $100 discount per bull! Females not included in this discount. Trucking is the responsibility of the buyer, but we can assist in finding reliable transportation if requested. OR We will board bulls free of charge until May 1. Bulls must be picked up on or before May 1. On May 1, we bring in 250 females to begin AI, and our lot space cannot accommodate cycling females next to bulls of breeding age. Bulls left after May 1 will be assessed a $5/day room and board fee. Sale Females We are extremely appreciative of females that leave from the sale site by Wednesday, February 5 with their new owners or reliable trucking. On the morning of Sunday, February 2, sale cattle are transported to the sale site. That afternoon we bring in ~150 heavy females to calve in our lots, and therefore our lot space cannot accommodate sale females coming back to the farm. If the forecast predicts inclement weather for sale day, please talk to Joy or Landi in advance if transportation may be a challenge. For females close to calving: please arrange trucking prior to purchase as long-distance hauling may not be available immediately following the sale.

Certainly it’s an exciting time in the cattle business as commercial cattlemen have seen record prices, excellent demand for quality beef, and a small national cow herd that is keeping supply moderated. Certainly calving ease, growth, and docility come to the top of the list, but we strive to provide our customers with well-rounded, profitable genetics that optimize the important traits of beef cattle production. The majority of our cow families have withstood the rigors of Southern Iowa fescue country for 10+ generations. This catalog is filled with loads of data – data with you in mind that allows you to make the best, most informed selection decisions to improve your herd. Further data such as yearling data and a fall heifer calving update will be posted on our website closer to sale time. We invite you to come look at the sale cattle, their dams, and any herd bulls we have on-site any day prior to the sale. Please call Landi at 641-344-7684 and we will show you the cattle. As a token of our appreciation, we’ll give a $100 credit toward your total purchase if you come view the cattle prior to the sale and then make a purchase. As always, we try to be prompt with the start of our sale. Pre-sale commentary will start about 11:45 in order to get the auction underway at 12:00. Videos will be available on www.dvauction.com mid-January, and information on how to view the videos by using the QR code with each lot can be found on page 3.
