+ B466 is a stout, wide-based, beefy bull with good volume. He was the #1 IMF scanning bull of his crop and scanned over an inch of ribeye per hundred pounds of body weight. This stout bull is recommended for use on cows. There won’t be many of these No Doubt sons left! + B466 has the largest Scrotal EPD in the fall bull division – not only important for a bull’s fertility, but that of his daughters also! B466 has the 2 nd highest Marbling EPD among the fall bulls. + Dam T411 is an excellent uddered cow whose first son sold for $10,000 to repeat customer Mark Anderson. She puts big ribeyes in her progeny and is among the top 15 ribeye ratio cows of the herd. + Please read about 12 year-old grandam L455 in the footnote of her son, Lot 92. She is still going strong with a beautiful udder! + Seven Pathfinders are found in this pedigree!

+ B443 is a slick haired, thick made bull with a lot of mass! + B443 was the 7 th top weaning weight bull of his crop! This growthy bull is recommended for use on cows. He has a little different pedigree for most of our repeat customers. + Dam L455 is now 12 years of age and still has a superior 359 day calving interval on her 10 calves (a set of twins is not included by the AAA in her ratios above). She is still beautiful uddered, excellent footed, easy fleshing, and walking smoothly. Come see her in person, and you will agree! Her fertility and longevity are excellent – and those are the things that matter most to commercial cattlemen profitability! + L455’s top son was Hoover Notary, who was used back in the Hoover herd. He was purchased by Golden Chute Ranch, Tim Hackett, and IMS Cattle. L455’s other progeny work for Scott Young, Cody Howland, and Doug Gross. + Two nice daughters of L455 work in the herd – one of them raised the No Doubt son, Lot 91. + Grandam H491 also had excellent longevity – she had 11 calves on record. + Great grandam B501 earned Pathfinder honors.

In a market of high cattle prices, what is a bull worth?

The rule of thumb states that the value of a herd bull should equate to the value of 4-5 feeder calves or 2.5 times the price of a fat steer.

Using round numbers: 4 feeder calves X $2000 = $8000 5 feeder calves X $2000 = $10,000 2.5 fat steers X $3000 = $7500

Hoover Angus will have bulls in all price ranges – see the chart on page 1 of our past 7 year’s sales. From the first bull in the ring to the last, there is definitely value in every bull. The bottom third (or more) of each calf crop is castrated to ensure our customers only receive our top-end genetics. Furthermore, we keep monitoring bulls past weaning time and continue to cull as needed. We all have different herd goals and needs, and there are bulls to fit everyone’s needs and budget. If you need help sorting the bulls to best fit your needs, please call Landi. Remember, the quickest way to improve your cow herd is with the right bull. He’s the biggest influence on your future!

Got Docility? We do! The animals in this sale average a Docility EPD in the best 20% of the breed! Good temperament has been a foundation of our herd, and one of the top reasons for repeat customers!
