+ B497 is a wide based “sleep tight, all night” calving ease bull, certainly suitable for use on heifers. He has the 2 nd highest CED EPD among the fall bulls as well as the 3 rd lowest BW EPD. He has a tight sheath to help him not get caught up in pasture hazards. + This balanced EPD bull tied as the 10 th top weaning weight bull of his crop and has a pedigree a little different for the vast majority of Hoover Angus customers. Save his daughters, they should be excellent! + Dam Z15 was a first calf heifer with B497. + Please read about Pathfinder donor grandam H115 and Pathfinder donor great grandam C50, one of the greatest cows in our history, in the footnote of Lot 103.

+ B519 is a bigger framed, square, deep ribbed bull recommended for use on heifers or cows. He offers a nice BW EPD to WW and YW EPD spread. + Dam V455 is a superior uddered young cow. Her first daughter sold to repeat customer Jody Martens. B519 was her second calf. + Grandam S455 is also an excellent uddered cow. Her second daughter in the Hoover herd recently weaned an 866 pound bull calf to be the 4 th top weaning weight bull of our 2024 crop! + S455 is one of the herd’s top ribeye ratio cows with 2-111 ribeye ratio on her progeny! + Great grandam C109 served as the herd’s 13 th top indexing cow at the time of her passing – the oldest cow on this prestigious list! She recorded 10-97 BWR, 10-109 WR, 10-106 YR with a 361 day calving interval on 11 pregnancies (a set of high performing twins are not included in her ratios). She was the dam of the $25,000 Hoover Headliner. + C109 was one of only a handful of donor cows that have earned a burial spot north of our bull barn. She and her sire, Gridiron, had highly successful careers at Hoover Angus. She is regarded as one of the best cows in our history.

+ B529 is the youngest fall bull in the sale, but he’s good quartered, more moderate framed, and level topped. He has a calving ease head and would be a great choice to use on heifers if you desire. + B529 has the 2 nd highest Milk EPD in the fall bulls selling. + Dam X448 is one of Mike’s favorite fall calving cows. She is very nice uddered and has excellent maternal instincts. I love the Chairman daughters – they are easy fleshing, nicely-made females with the udder quality all cattlemen crave. + X448’s first daughter was the #1 weaning weight heifer of her crop, and selected by long-time repeat customer Todd Glendenning. + Grandam M232 also had very good mothering skills and produced one Pathfinder daughter. Keith Groshong and Kyle VanHouweling selected her daughters to come to auction.

+ B473 is a bigger framed, rugged bull recommended for use on cows. If you come to Hoovers for larger framed cattle, check this guy out, he has the genetic potential to sire more frame. + Dam X18 is an excellent uddered young cow from a flush sister to Hoover No Doubt! Check out the two stout No Doubt sons selling as Lots 88 and 91. + Grandam N75 was a big ribeye female that scanned a tremendous 13.7” ribeye! + Great grandam J2 gave us the flush that produced No Doubt and four sisters, then she went on to do great things in the breed, including producing the top-selling bull of all breeds at the 2021 Midland Bull Test for $158,000 selling to ST Genetics!
Gwen once again baked for the Iowa State Fair, and this year made decorated cupcakes. As Landi was giving Gwen suggestions on how to make each sunflower petal as perfect as can be, Gwen replied,“I got this, Mom.” Indeed she did, as she placed second in the state in the final round of the Kid’s Baking Championship!
