+ AI to Sitz Galactic 723G on 12-4-24. + B434 is long bodied, level topped, nice heifer. + Pathfinder dam N473 is 10 years old and still going strong with a 363 day calving interval! She’s sure got longevity and fertility! + N473’s claim to fame in the Hoover herd was producing herd sire Hoover Special Edition – he has done a very nice job for us! N473’s other progeny work for Mike & Sue Beun, G&G Livestock, and Pat Hardy. + N473 records 7-124 IMF ratio to be the 11 th top IMF ratio cow of the herd. + Grandam K264 was quite the herd bull maker, three times weaning calves among the top 10 weaning weight calves of their respective crops. + Great grandam earned Pathfinder honors and ended her career with an excellent 10-105 wean ratio.

+ AI to Deep Creek Legitimate 203 on 11-18-24. + This gal is one of the prettiest fall heifers, and her picture just doesn’t do her justice – come see her in person! She’s a high volume, easy fleshing heifer with nice width of base. + B506 has the 2 nd highest Milk EPD of the fall heifers and ties with the #1 CED EPD! + Dam V19 is a nice uddered, low birth weight cow whose calves get right up and grow rapidly. She is a calm disposition cow that passes this trait on to her progeny. + V19 was a high growth heifer – just 10 pounds behind her twin sister at weaning and yearling time, and her twin sister was the 15 th top weaning weight, 5 th top yearling weight heifer of her crop. + Grandam M66 was a real low birth weight cow that has produced sons and daughters for Ralph Morales, Roger Cerven and Jerome Loutsch.

Daughters In Herd
Mothers & Udders: Quality Beyond EPDs In an EPD era where it is easy to get caught up in seeking out high EPDs for certain (often terminal) traits, our industry sometimes forgets about the most basic, yet most essential traits in a cow herd. One of these traits is mothering ability. We don’t have an EPD for this trait, but mothering ability (or lack thereof) is quite important! I’m sure we can all tell stories of how a cow lacking in mothering ability caused a loss in time, energy, and ultimately money. Likewise, a cow with too much mothering ability (aggressive towards humans) is unfavorable for obvious reasons! At Hoover Angus, optimal mothering ability and udder structure is very important, and it has been for over 9 decades!

+ AI to Mead Mercury on 11-27-24. + B475 is a long bodied, smooth made, high performing heifer from a fertile, productive cow. B475 is one of the last 38 Special daughters to come to auction! + Dam L425 is still going strong with a 366 day calving interval. She is still superior uddered, and I would certainly expect B475 to be the same. + L425’s progeny work for Matt Ayers, Howard Paulsen, and Jeff Booth. Howard’s bull was the #1 yearling weight bull of his crop. + Check out how many Pathfinders fill this pedigree – 9 to be exact!
