Renowned around the world for the exclusi- ve, luxurious and high-performance super- cars that have made its reputation over the past decade, McLaren Automotive today unveils another flagship model: the 765LT Spider, which complements the 765LT 'Longtail' Coupé unveiled last year and now sold out. It is the most powerful supercar convertible ever produced by McLaren. With its low weight, track dynamics and optimised aerodynamics, the 765LT Spider has all the qualities of the Coupé and also meets an exclusive demand: only 765 cars will be avai- lable to order, worldwide. Retaining the dyna- mic and aerodynamic DNA of the Coupé without structural compromise and with a weight increase of only 49 kg - mainly due to the retractable hardtop and its operating mechanism - the 765LT Spider weighs only 1,388 kg (DIN weight), 80 kg less than a 720S Spider and around 100 kg less than its nea- rest competitor. The one-piece, power-opera-
ted carbon-fibre retractable hardtop (RHT) opens in just 11 seconds and operates at speeds of up to 50 km/h, bringing the specta- cular sound of the quadruple titanium exhaust into the cabin. Driving pleasure reaches ano- ther dimension. The new LT Spider accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.8 seconds and from 0 to 200 km/h in 7.2 seconds. It takes 10.0 seconds to cover 400 metres from a standing start. The top speed is 330 km/h. Mike Flewitt, CEO of McLaren Automotive: "As we continue to develop the LT sub-brand with the introduction of the new 765LT Spider, it is clear that our customers are increasingly attracted to a Longtail supercar offering extre- me and exhilarating performance and limited availability. With all 765 examples of the 765LT Coupé having been sold, it is no surprise that by the time we publicly announce our new LT Spider, our production capacity for this year is already exhausted." www.mclaren.com
