An Acrostic For a Christmas acrostic, you will enjoy arranging the letters C-H-R-I-S-T-M-A-S one letter below the other. Each letter in the word "Christmas” should suggest some word or words found in the Christmas story. For illustration, “M” might stand for the “manger.” Find words for each letter, and place beside the word the Scripture verse where each is found. Mail your answers to the Junior King’s Business, 558 S. Hope St., Los Angeles, Calif. Jumbled Words Rearrange the letters in the following words, and the result will be important words found in the Christmas story: 1. Eressphdh 6. Rsta 2. Lhebethme 7. Lgdo 3. Nawdsldig 8. Yhmrr 4. Grenam 9. Kseeninrfcan 5. Aslnge 10. Tsigf How She Knew “I know Mary is a Christian, Mother,” cried a little girl as she jumped up on her mother's knees. “How do you know that, dear?” “Oh, she plays like a Christian, Mother.” Yes, if the Lord Jesus is our Saviour, we will be different from others, in work and in play, at home and at school. |—S elected . eating that the believer's name is written in the Lamb’s Book of Life (Rev. 21:27). What precious gifts these are, each one more valuable than the most costly jewels! And do you realize, boys and girls, that these gifts are all yours if you.have re ceived the greatest Gift of all, the Lord
children went from the room. I went over to the tiny little girl and said, "It is time to go, Florence.” She was still paying no attention to any one or to the toys in her lap—just was looking at the tree and drink ing in its beauty. As I took her hand and led her out of the room, I felt her lagging back as she turned her little head and looked at the Christmas tree as long as it remained in sight. That lovely tree meant Christmas to her! And as the Christmas season comes again, dear young friends, I want to remember the lesson that Flor ence taught me that Christmas . when she saw her first Christ- Sg&r, mas tree—and I am wondering l*fr^p£i8ip son—that the Lord Jesus Christ, the Giver of all good gifts, is better than any or all of His gifts to us, better than any thin g you may receive at Christmas. Many times have I thanked God for His gifts to me, the food, the clothing, the lov ing care; I have thanked Him for health, for strength, for eyesight (many of the Na vajos are blind because of disease and igno rance). But one day, as I thought about Florence and her Christmas tree, there came to me a special desire to be more thankful for Him, the Giver of all gifts, than for the gifts themselves. You will be receiving many gifts, lovely ones, I'm sure, but will you, like Florence, take time to look away from your gifts and remember Him, ■whose birthday Christmas really honors? And remembering Him, may you say from your heart, “Thanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift.” A Christmas Object Lesson The Lord Jesus Christ was God’s greatest and best Gift, and He is the most wonderful Gift that this world has ever known. When you receive God's Gift by accepting the Lord Jesus as your own Saviour, He gives you in addition many wonderful gifts. Let us talk about some of these precious gifts at this blessed Christmas season. First, we will choose a Christmas tree on which to hang a representation of these wonderful gifts.. (Place a small tree, either natural or artificial, on a table. On cards of various colors and shapes, print verses of Scripture showing our riches in Christ. Punch a hole in each card, and place a piece of colored ribbon through each so that it can be tied to the tree. Pass these cards out among the children.) Now let us decorate our tree by tying on the colored cards. Read the verse on the card aloud before tying on the card, so that we will know which gift it represents. For instance, this blue card bears the verse John 3:16, telling of the gift of Everlasting Life. What a wonderful gift that is! Then the red card has the verse Ephesians 1:7, symbolizing the gift of Forgiveness of Sins. It brings real peace in the heart to know that one's sins are forgiven. A gray card shaped like an anchor tells of the gift of Hope, which is an anchor to the soul. Printed on this card are the words of He brews 6:19. Then there Is a gold card tell ing of the Many Mansions (John 14:1-3), and a white card shaped like a book indi- whether you, too, would not like to learn the same beautiful les
THE W ISE MEN By ESTELLA E. H OW E S Once upon the eastern desert Where the sifting sands still blow, Wise men traveled in the nighttime Through the wondrous starlit glow;
Traveled till the star of promise
Rested o'er the King they sought; There they knelt and worshiped gladly, Giving Him the gifts they brought.
Older folk and little children,
Still we come to Christ, our Lord, Give to Him our lives to serve Him, Worship Him with glad accord.
Jesus as your Saviour? He is a wonderful Saviour! The Lord Jesus came to earth as a little Baby ldng ago in order that He might go to the cross of Calvary and there die for each of you that you might enjoy these wonderful gifts. So I will place this large red cross in front of our Christmas tree in order that you may realize that it was by His death on the cross that you have been made rich. The Christmas tree should re mind us of the cross, for God hung His greatest and best Gift upon a “tree”—only that “tree” was the cross (Gal. 3:13). Perhaps at this Christmas season you may not receive many presents wrapped in fancy paper with seals and ribbons. Yet if you have received the Lord Jesus as your Saviour, you have gifts that will last throughout eternity.—M. S. H. Memory Work for December Q uestion: Where was the Lord Jesus bom?
