About the Scholarship Mrs. Rita Youmans chaired UWSP's Home Economics Department from 1952 to 1956. Since Dr. Youmans was such a great influence in the lives of many students, a scholarship fund was set up in Dr. Youmans' name. The first scholarship was awarded in 1996. Today, this scholarship is given to dietetics and family and consumer sciences students who demonstrate academic achievement, leadership, and involvement in student professional organizations. spring and will begin her master's degree at UWSP in community and organizational leadership this fall. She is a member of the Student Association of Nutrition and Dietetics and works as a local food system operations tech for Central Rivers Farmshed. Jessica is a member of the local Habitat for Humanity chapter and is dedicated to engaging with underserved populations.
