President’s Message
Welcome to late summer at ACC!. From last summer’s rain that caused us to close the course over 20 times to one or two times this year, the course has held up well.
The club has been very busy with golf tournaments, tennis matches, swim meets, summer camp amongst many other activities. In just a few weeks summer will be over and our most scenic time of the year approaches with a full spectrum of events to join and enjoy.
Our board meetings have focused on capital improvements (many of which we can’t see) and our very active committees are producing great experiences for all.
Key areas included:
T HE LAND SALE : We have our contract in hand and it has been reviewed and approved by our counsel. Soon we will have the final maps posted at various locations in the club. We will be meeting with our neighbors and reviewing the plans after input from them over the past few years. The town will review and let us know their findings. One exciting aspect is a trail system that will run through the neighborhood and in the wooded area connecting to other town trails; details will be on the maps.
C APITAL I MPROVEMENTS : include and are not limited to a new pool pump, the chiller being installed any day now, and continued work on golf course drainage in preparation for cart path improvement.
2022 still has substantial impacts on our operations from inflation. We face challenges in all aspects of the cost of being in business, including high inflation, higher labor costs, food and supply costs, and high delivery fees. We are doing our best to maintain costs but expect some challenges here.
Membership levels and renewals have remained strong. The current membership count is 240 golfing and 110 social.
Our staff continues to work hard and focuses on a great member experience. We all want to wish Marc Prosser good luck in his career change and relocation. Marc did a great job on the course and developed a great team.
Our commitment to you is to have a safe and enjoyable place for you and your family to relax, socialize and play. Thank you for being part of making ACC a memorable place we all enjoy; please feel free to contact me at president@albanycc.cc with any questions, concerns, or compliments.

Manager’s Message
I can’t believe how fast this summer has flown by! We have loved seeing so many members enjoying the Club and actively participating in our events and activities. As the kids get ready for school and vacations taper off, we hope to continue to see you here as we move into the fall season. Our golf course has been in great condition, despite the exceptionally dry and hot weather. Thank you for your patience as Marcus and his team have been watering the greens daily during the days to keep them properly hydrated. We will be aerifying the greens September 6 th -7 th and did some core aerification, topdressing and other maintenance projects on the putting green yesterday to ensure a top-notch experience.
Speaking of Marcus, you may have already heard that he is leaving ACC to move to Delaware so he and his wife can live closer to their family there. Marcus has been a great asset during his nearly eight years as our superintendent, and while we are sad to see him go, we send our best wishes to his family on this new chapter of their lives. Derek Supermanto, who has been our Assistant Superintendent for the past seven years, will step up as Interim Superintendent as we conduct a nationwide search for the position. Derek has been an outstanding part of the golf course maintenance team, and we feel confident we’ll be in great hands during this transition. Our Golf Member-Guest was a fantastic event last month and sold out quickly. We sent a survey to all participants to get some valuable feedback on what they liked best and any features they want to see added for next year. We appreciate all of the responses we received and look forward to making improvements based on you suggestions next year. We have a few more events left on our golf calendar, including: Junior Club Championship, August 13 th & 14 th Shirley Spad Senior Club Championship and Men’s Senior Championship , August 20 th & 21 st Women’s Labor Day Tournament and Men’s Scott Macomber 2 -Man, both on the weekend of September 3 rd -4 th Mr. & Mrs. Tournament, September 11 th Governor’s Plaque Championship, September 17 th -18 th Martin E. Pfeiffenberger Memorial Golf Tournament, September 26 th Congratulations go out to our own golf staff on their recent accomplishments. Andrew Daily shot a 3 under par 68 to tie for second in the 87 th Annual Woodstock Open; and Glenn Davis shot 149 to win the NENY Senior Stroke Play — which qualifies him to play in the 2022 PGA Senior Club Professional Championship in October. We’re proud of you both! It’s been another very successful swim season as our Piranhas won the Tri -County Club Championships for the third time in ten years! Great job to our swimmers, divers, and coaches and a special thank you to the booster club and team parents Jennifer Bergeron, Alison Fisk, and Lauren O’Hare. The pool remains open until Labor Day to help you cool off from this hot summer, but we ask your patience as many of our seasonal staff are returning to school and we are short-handed for these last couple of weeks. Watch your eblasts for updated news about operating hours as the season wraps up. Lori and Shannon have done an amazing job with their kids’ summer camp and tennis clinics which have been filled to capacity all summer! You’ve let us know how you enjoy the creative weekly attractions and the kids are having a blast. There are still openings for ages 4 and up for tennis clinics/match play in either full or half day sessions starting August 29 th through September 2 nd . We’ve been excited that our new asphalt courts at tennis have been well received and have given us a lot more flexibility for member play as well as the summer camps and clinics.

Manager’s Message (continued)
You asked for yoga and we listened! We now have classes on our calendar on Saturday mornings and Thursday evenings. We invite you to try them out and encourage you to bring your friends – non-ACC members are welcome during this introductory phase. Registration is required and classes are $15 per member ($20 for guests), please bring your own yoga mat and water and join us in the green space near the swimming pool (in case of rain, classes will be moved inside the Clubhouse). Dining has been going strong and we love seeing the dining room full. Our new “Open Table” concept starts this Saturday night at 7 pm. If you want to meet up with friends but don’t have plans, you can choose “Open Table” when you make your reservation and we will help you join up with other members for a fun evening. We look forward to seeing you at A Taste of ACC on Friday, September 9 th , where we will be showcasing small plates prepared by ACC’s Culinary Team and featuring live music by Neal McHugh and the River Rats Band. Please continue to make reservations for lunch, dinner and special events so we can staff and prepare appropriately. We also ask that you print legibly on your chit so we can make sure statements are accurate. Thank you! Membership continues to grow, thanks in part to our members referring friends and colleagues. There are no restrictions on who can refer new members, so whether you are brand new yourself or you have been here your whole life, we encourage you to spread the word about ACC. You can use the Refer a Member form or reach out directly to Sara-Becca. If you’re enjoying your membership, think how much more fun you could have when you upgrade it. Whether it’s swimming at the pool, playing tennis or golf, if you felt that you missed out on any of the fun this summer, you can upgrade your membership so that you don’t miss out again! Contact Sara -Becca to help you find the best option for you and your family. Speaking of Sara-Becca, you may have seen her out taking photos throughout the summer to capture all the camps, clinics, events, and so much more. Many of the photos are posted on the member’s side of the website, under “ Photo Galleries .” You can also see what is happening at the Club all year round by following us on Instagram! It is a sincere pleasure for all of us on staff to serve you and help you get the most out of your ACC membership. If there is anything we can do to enhance your experiences here, please feel free to reach out to me at anytime. We appreciate your loyalty and commitment to Albany Country Club!
A Final Goodbye
Friday August 12 th will be my last day as your Golf Course Superintendent. For those of you that haven’t heard, I have accepted a position with Helena Agri as a Sales Representative. My family and I will be relocating down to Delaware as I begin a new chapter of my career in sales. I love the golf course business, and with this position I will still be able to visit and help other golf course superintendents as they plan and execute their own agronomic programs. There are few reasons that this opportunity was appealing to me, but probably the biggest one was that we would be closer to friends and family back in the Philadelphia area. I am truly grateful for the opportunity to have been your Golf Course Superintendent. The past seven and half years have been quite an experience for me and my family. All of you welcomed
and supported me from the start. I can say enough how much that meant to me. This job has been one of the great challenges of my life and I am proud of what we as a team have been able to accomplish during my time at Albany. I will take the relationships and memories made with me for the rest of my life. Thank you all for taking a shot on a guy from Philadelphia to manage this beautiful course. I wish everyone at Albany nothing but the best. For the final time, I had a great time seeing you out on the course.
