Tutti-frutti water-based modelling clay This brightly coloured, highly malleable and fragrant modelling clay must be stored in an airtight container. It does not stain, is non-toxic and can be rehydrated. Oil-based modelling clay Vegetable and mineral-based modelling clays do not dry out and can be used repeatedly. It is best to keep them in airtight containers. The clays’ colours blend well together and are ideal to help develop motor skills. The dough should always be worked on a board or placemat, as it may stain certain surfaces. Ultra-light hardening modelling clay This light, spongy modelling clay hardens through contact with air. It is highly flexible and malleable, does not stain and can be painted. Clay With a few exceptions, red and grey clays do not require oven or kiln baking. They are ready to use, with a natural and moist texture, and can be painted once dry, making it a wonderful medium to teach sensory expression to children. FIMO Modelling clay This soft modelling clay is ideal for creating small objects such as jewelry. It hardens when baked in a conventional oven. Hardening clay in powder form This modelling clay is made from a coarse powder and must be mixed with water to become malleable. It can be easily applied to any surface or structure. It can also be sanded, painted and varnished. Vegetable-based modelling clay A soft, easy-to-work vegetable-based modelling clay, ideal for very young children. It does not dry out in the open air and is heat resistant. Non-oily. Colours can be mixed endlessly. Gluten free. Made from corn
TARASCO sculpting stone Synthetic block that is moist and easy to carve for dust-free sculpting. Soapstone With a colour that changes from green to grey, steatite (soapstone) has a high talc content, making it very easy to sculpt. Woodcarving tools can also be used on it.
To fully appreciate the vast possibilities that modelling clay makes possible, it is important that little ones have access to a varied assortment of tools. The use of a set of cookie cutters is also highly recommended.
