The program’s focus is on ensuring that all visitors to Tasmania receive an exceptional experience, whether they’re enjoying a fine glass of wine at a vineyard or admiring the craftsmanship of a local chocolatier. It’s a collaborative effort that allows small producers to thrive, while contributing to the broader success of Tasmania’s tourism industry. Thanks to initiatives like the Great Customer Experience Program, Tasmania is ensuring that these small producers will remain at the forefront of the industry, keeping pace with global trends while maintaining the authenticity and craftsmanship that make them unique. The festival, along with the ongoing support for local businesses, reinforces Tasmania’s reputation as a world-class destination for food, drink, and cultural experiences.
The Tasmanian Hospitality Industry 2030 Plan includes goals and focus areas for the THA that allow us to support our regions celebrate the Tasmanian Brand. Focussing on local produce is at the heart of our businesses, and supporting venues to showcase produce, music and performance artists through vibrant events and festivals is a key focus of the THA. South In early April, the picturesque Coal River Valley became a vibrant hub of celebration and community, with the much-anticipated Coal River Valley Harvest Festival taking centre stage for the second year. The event is a testament to the region’s rich agricultural heritage and its thriving local industries, offering a unique opportunity to explore the exceptional flavours and artistry that define the Tasmanian experience. From exquisite wines to artisanal chocolates, from craft gins to locally grown oysters, the festival highlighted the creativity and passion of Tasmania’s small producers, whom are working tirelessly in the tourism and hospitality industry. Visitors had the chance to sample a range of award-winning wines as well as gins crafted using locally foraged botanicals and innovative distillers showcased coffee liqueurs, absinthe, whiskies, and fortifieds. The festival also featured an incredible array of locally grown produce, including fresh oysters from the Tasmanian Oyster Company, fish and chips from Wattlebanks catering, figs harvested from the valley’s unique microclimate, and mouthwatering chocolates crafted by Federation Chocolates at Man and His Dog Vineyard. All of the producers showcases were from within the Coal River Valley region.
Dave Noonan Tasmania has some amazing hospitality and tourism experiences which achieve recognition on the national and international stages. In 2024 Hobart’s The Tasman, a Luxury Collection Hotel, was listed in 49th place in the global ranking of The World’s 50 Best Hotels 2024 list. The hotel includes not only incredible rooms focused on the reinterpretation of a stunning art deco building, but also features the award winning Peppina and Mary Mary. Mary Mary won Best Hotel Bar of the Year at the Australian Hotel Association awards and Peppina scooped four awards at the THA Awards for Excellence, including Restaurant of the Year - Metro.
