It was another big haul for Tasmanian tourism and hospitality operators at the 2024 Australian Tourism Awards, with the state landing a 14-medal haul. Tasmanian tourism operators and events returned home with a total of 14 medals awarded at the 2024 Qantas Australian Tourism Awards held in Adelaide in March, compromising four gold, five silver and five bronze. The event marked the national awards program’s 40-year anniversary and again Tasmanian tourism operators shone. Represented in 25 of the 26 categories, the state landed three more medals than the incredible achievement last year. Importantly, products, experiences and events featured from across Tasmania’s diverse regions, including on King Island, with a number of first-time national finalists being recognised. Launceston’s Peppers Silo Hotel took out an incredible two gold medals, in both the Business Event Venue category and 4 – 4.5 Star Deluxe accommodation. This is in addition to securing a Silver in the Tourism Restaurants & Catering Services category for the hotel’s inhouse restaurant, Grain of the Silos. Adding to

the northern city’s haul, The Dragonfly Inn notched-up back-to-back gold medals, again taking out the Hosted Accommodation category, while its sister property, Alice’s Cottages, claimed bronze for Self-Contained Accommodation. 2024 Tourism Young Achiever of the Year, Emily Elmer, took out Gold in her first attempt at nationals with Younique Stays on Tasmania’s east coast, winning the Tourism Retail, Hire, & Services category.

In the south, Bangor Vineyard Shed and Pennicott Wilderness Journeys were recognised with Silver
