Tasmanian Hospitality Review: April/May 2025

innovate. I’d like to recongise every business that represented Tasmania on the national stage, as just making it through to this point means they are already exceptional. “As the peak body representing our state’s tourism operators, it is moments such as these where we couldn’t be prouder of our island state.” In addition to the medallists, four Tasmanian finalists were also recognised with national High Commendations in this year’s awards: Tasmanian Mountain Bike Adventures, Aquila Eco Retreat, Port Arthur Historic Site, and Tasmania’s Taste of Summer. Nominations for the 2025 Tasmanian Tourism Awards are now open The Tasmanian Tourism Awards are the premier Awards program in the Tasmanian tourism industry. The Awards are designed to encourage and recognise innovation, excellence, quality and sustainability in tourism, while providing a benchmark for industry best practice. Coordinated by TICT each year for and on behalf of the Tasmanian tourism industry, the Tasmanian Tourism Awards form part of the prestigious Australian Tourism awards program. By winning a Tasmanian Tourism Award, Tassie’s most outstanding local operators attain national recognition, automatically becoming a finalist in the Qantas Australian Tourism Awards. With 26 national categories to choose from, and an additional seven state-based awards this year, there’s a category relevant to every tourism operator. Entrants complete an online written submission, validation review, digital review, and most categories also have a consumer rating scoring element. TICT offers a comprehensive entrant support program inclusive of the entry fee, and all entrants are strongly encouraged

to take advantage of this assistance to prepare their best possible entry.

In 2025, the Australian Tourism Awards, and therefore each state and territory’s awards, are evolving.

Updates to the submission process will be taking effect for this year’s program, following a comprehensive review guided by industry feedback. What this means is that the process has been streamlined to reduce the workload for entrants, while continuing to uphold the integrity and prestige of the awards. Key improvements include simplified questions, a reduced word count, and a more structured submission format to assist entrants. Existing accreditations and completed programs will also be acknowledged. These updates aim to make process more manageable, allowing businesses to focus on showcasing their product, innovation, sustainability, and achievements.

The Tasmanian Tourism Awards are sponsored by Tourism Australia.
