In mid-March, Clubs Tasmania attended the Sport NXT Conference in Melbourne alongside several other state sporting organisations. Sport NXT is a globally renowned sports conference and the premier sports summit in the Asia-Pacific region. The event brings together an unparalleled lineup of international and domestic leaders from all sectors of the sports industry. This three-day summit serves as a key platform for professional development and business networking, featuring a two-day live conference with a forward- thinking agenda. Industry experts and top voices in global sport and business discuss the challenges and opportunities shaping the future of the sports sector. Beyond the conference sessions, a series of networking events provide delegates with valuable opportunities to connect, build relationships, and explore business development prospects.

Also in March, we held another highly successful Industry Night at the Rosny Park Bowls Club, bringing together representatives from a diverse range of sporting organisations. The event provided an excellent opportunity for networking, knowledge- sharing, and discussing key issues affecting community clubs. The evening featured insightful presentations from guest speakers, including the Hon. Luke Edmunds MLC, who offered attendees a valuable overview of government and council operations. His guidance provided clarity on navigating policies and engaging effectively with local authorities, ensuring clubs have the tools and knowledge needed to thrive. Another highlight of the night was Scott Tilyard, Chair of the Road Safety Advisory Council of Tasmania. Bruny Island Bowls and Community Club Crowned National Community Club of the Year at Good Sports Awards In a remarkable achievement for Tasmania, the Bruny Island Bowls and Community Club has been named National Community Club of the Year at the 2024 Good Sports Awards, held on April 3 at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). Winning the top national honour is an incredible accomplishment for any club — but for a small rural community with just 800 permanent residents, it’s truly extraordinary.
