By implementing proactive preparedness measures, equipping safety forces with advanced training, technology, and resources, and enacting thoughtful legislation, Beachwood remains committed to delivering the highest standards of public safety to effectively and efficiently meet the community’s needs.
Innovating Public Safety for a Stronger Community
Response Ready The City of Beachwood prioritizes public safety by ensuring city safety services’ have access to top-tier equipment, training, and resources to respond to emergencies effectively. The Beachwood Police Department is leading the way with innovative upgrades, including the acquisition of its first all-electric vehicle, a Ford Mach-E Mustang. This eco-friendly addition outfitted for traffic enforcement, marks a milestone for the police department and the city fleet. Beyond its operational role, the Mach-E will play a part in community engagement by appearing at city events. Further strengthening the department’s capabilities, three Ford Explorers will be replaced in the patrol fleet, and a 2025 Ford F-150 has been added to the traffic bureau for efficient deployment of speed trailers, traffic signs, and generators.
Meanwhile, the Beachwood Fire Department has enhanced its emergency response capacity by adding a new ambulance, bringing the city’s fleet to five ambulances to better meet service demands. In addition to fleet upgrades, Beachwood is advancing its video technology. The police department is upgrading officer body cameras to ensure the highest standards of accountability and transparency.
The Information Technology Department maintains 357 security cameras strategically placed at public buildings and intersections, ensuring optimal monitoring and data storage.
The Beachwood Fire Department earned the 2024 American Heart Association Mission: Lifeline EMS Bronze Award for excellence in heart attack and stroke care, highlighting its expertise in managing time-sensitive, life-threating emergencies.
