soldiers of the cross of Christ. Let these be fully clothed with the armor of God, and equipped with the sword of the Spirit which is the Word of God. Let them be sent into every country on the face of the globe in ever increasing numbers. Let them penetrate to the far borders of the world, capturing men andL women alive, and making them “love slaves” of the great Captain, the Lord .Jesus Christ. These soldiers will not live in barracks, but among the people,

who will join this brotherhood, will receive a new heart and a new nature from the hand of God. They will also receive a new Father, even the heavenly' Father, who can make peace on the earth not a remote possibility, but a present reality (cf. Isa. 11:9; John 3:3; 8:44; 20:17). Peace—what a delightful word! It brings visions of rich, fertile valleys, of humming factories, of happy families at their firesides. How our hearts long for peace today, real peace, permanent peace! Why cannot we have it? What is the basis of peace? First, we must understand that violence, anarchy, and war come from sin. All this is deeply rooted in man’s sinful nature. There can never be lasting peace until steps are, taken to'deal with the root of sin- i But God has a basis for peace. It is a basis founded upon divine wis­ dom and built by divine power. It is a fundamental principle which will deal .forever with the causes which have robbed us of peace. The follow­ ing points suggest God’s basis for a just and lasting peace. For Those Who Have Topics I. AN INTERNATIONAL BROTHER­ HOOD. First, let there be established a world brotherhood of men. Let this brotherhood be founded not on the shifting sands of superficial cordial­ ity, but on the basis propounded and explained by the Holy Scriptures. Such basis must be the regeneration of men by the operation of the Holy Spirit of God, on the ground of the sacrificial work of Christ on Calvary’s cross. Let it be understood that men

Dr. Orr is pastor of Calvary Bible Church, Placentia, .Calif. In recent years he has conducted summer Bible camps for various groups in Southern California.

November 12—K. PAUL YPHANTIS

Mr. Yphantis is executive secretary of the Greek Amer­ ican Missionary Association, Boston, Mass. Born in Turkey and educated in America, he served as a. mis- sionary in Greece until, the Nazi occupation. After thirteen months under German rule, he escaped with his family to the United States. Mr. Owen is acting district secretary of the China Inland Mission for the Pacific Southwest, with head- quarters in Los Angeles, Calif. He sailed for China in 1933 and.served in the provinces of Yunnan and Anhwei until his retúrn to America in 1941. He is a frequent Speaker at young people’s rallies and conferences. Mr; Trotman is director of The Navigators, a Bible club especially for servicemen. The aim of this organization, "To know Christ and to make Him known,” is realized through a rigid system of Bible study and program for Christian witness.
