The Truth about Carbs • AGES 40 AND UP NEW While carbohydrates likely make up a big part of your diet, it is important to understand that not all carbs are created equal. Choosing the right ones can promote good health by providing a variety of vital nutrients. Some carbs are healthy, while others are not. Learn about the three types of carbs - sugars, starches and fiber - and their effects on your overall health, and discover how healthy carbs can provide essential energy to fuel your body. Start with a single-size bag of taco chips or Fritos, pore in some taco meat, lettuce, salsa and cheese, grab a spoon and voila! Walk around and socialize with friends as background music from the 50s, 60s and 70s is played for your entertainment. Afterward, enjoy some dessert. Exercises include seated and/or standing aerobic positions with core strengthening and balance training using light weights, bands and therapeutic balls. Please bring a water bottle for hydration. Looking for better balance, gentle movement, stress relief and moving meditation? Tai Chi might be just what you are looking for and it will complement your other exercise routines. The many benefits of Tai Chi including maintaining mobility, agility, health and vitality can be found in these simple movements. See why Tai Chi has been practiced for centuries to benefit the mind and body. PRACTICE VS INSTRUCTIONAL CLASSES: Practice classes have minimal instruction allowing the student to just follow along in the various exercises and movements to focus on relaxing and breathing. Every level Practice class has a corresponding level Instructional class. Instructional classes provide detailed explanation of everything contained in the Practice class. Ideally, a student would take both. ADULT VS SENIOR CLASSES: Adult and Senior Tai Chi classes have the same content and instruction. Senior classes are priced for those 50 and over. Anyone 50 and over can register for an Adult Tai Chi class and receive a 20% senior discount. IN PERSON VS VIRTUAL VS HYBRID: Some classes are in person only; some are virtual only (via Zoom) and some are hybrid. Hybrid classes are simultaneously offered in person and via Zoom. If you cannot attend an in-person class on a specific date, you can participate at home via Zoom.
