Nature Discovery Kits • AGES 4-9 Discover nature at home with one of our themed Nature Discovery Kits! Kits generally include: Information/instruction sheets, coloring pages or scavengers hunts, supplies for crafts and materials/instructions for a game or hike. Some kits are designed for families with up to 4 children; other are for one child. Please see specific kit listing for more details on themes/materials and when they are available. Some kits offer additional craft materials available for an extra fee. An email confirmation will be sent when your kit is ready to pick up. Pick up your kit inside the nature center during open hours. (ah) BUNNY TIME TAKE HOME KIT: Springtime means flowers, rain showers and rabbits! Use our Bunny Time Nature Discovery Kit to learn all about our native cottontail rabbit. Take home kit includes: Information sheet, book list, coloring/activity sheets, supplies for four (4) rabbit crafts, a signs of rabbits scavenger hunt and two rabbits games. Four additional rabbit crafts plus coloring sheets available for an extra fee. Items not included: crayons or markers, and scissors. Available April 1 - May 30. Join a naturalist for a spring multi-week session of outdoor play. Each themed, but unstructured, nature playtime takes place completely outdoors rain or shine so dress for the weather. Please note: Your child will get wet and dirty - it’s part of the fun! Caregivers stay with their child. Join a naturalist for an early morning hike at Knoch Knolls Park to look for signs of spring. Trails may be muddy; dress for the weather and conditions. Please leave pets at home. Meets on the nature center deck. For up to four family members; at least one adult must attend per family; please register only one member of your family. Parent must remain with their child(ren) during the class. Bring folding lawn chairs. All fishing poles, bait and tackle are provided. We’ll be fishing rain or shine (but not if it’s thundering - check our Rainout Line), so please dress for the weather. Fishing takes place at May Watts Park’s pond and meets at entrance on Oakton Lane. Price is per child; at least one adult must attend with each family. This is a great program for kids, families, and anyone who loves nature. Instruction will be provided for participants on how trees grow and how to plant and care for the tree they will receive.
