The historic carousel provides fun and laughter for kids of all ages as they ride around on beautifully carved horses and other animals. In addition to the carousel, the miniature kiddie rides are great for the lit tle ones. Combine that with the fact that the world’s best sof t serve ice cream is available right next door during the summer and you’ve got a recipe for a great af ternoon. Facilities include: wildlife sanctuary, picnic tables, restrooms, bandstand, playground equipment, horseshoe pits, baseball and sof tball fields, outdoor swimming pool, tennis courts, campgrounds, snack shop, and barbecue pits. This North Plat te gem is nestled along the North Plat te River which is a fun place to cool of f in the shallow stream during the hot summer days. The drive-by zoo is home to animals of all sorts, including deer and elk, burros and llamas, geese and peacocks.

Homestead Pumpkin Patch 6459 S Homestead Rd • (308) 398-6444 The Homestead Pumpkin Patch is a new at traction south of North Plat te at the corner of Homestead and Power roads. The at traction will be open on weekends from mid-September through the final weekend in October, with plans to add days for school groups to visit. In addition to the pumpkin patch, the at traction will include a hill slide, jumping pillow, human foosball, barrel cars, hayrack rides and other activities. www.homesteadpumpkinpatch.com North Platte Rec Center 1300 S McDonald Rd • (308) 535-6772 The North Plat te Rec Center is a large recreational venue that of fers many opportunities for fitness, recreation, weight lif ting, cardio exercise, racquet sports, yoga, and aerobics. The center incorporates a large swimming pool with water slide, hot tub and sauna. The double gymnasium accommodates two full-size basketball courts with seating for 150, locker rooms and a concession stand. Free childcare is provided for parents who are taking a rec center class, and there is a game room for children of all ages.

The Vault is North Plat te’s premier escape experience. An escape game is a physical adventure game in which players solve a series of puzzles and riddles using clues, hints, and strategy to complete the objectives at hand. Players are given a set time limit to unveil the secret plot which is hidden within the rooms. The Vault keeps their game offerings fresh and new! The mission of the North Plat te Public Library is to assure access to the knowledge of the world. The library is dedicated to providing a wide variety of children's programming including Wee Read for infants through age 3, Story Time for ages 3 through Kindergarten, af ter school programs for all ages, and Teen Café for youths. One of the biggest parks in the area Centennial Park features a variety of fun recreational opportunities for people and dogs of all ages. There are ten soccer fields used by several youth soccer organizations for recreational, league, and tournament play with standing room and portable concession facilities. Centennial Park also has seven youth baseball diamonds which are utilized by the Lit tle League Association for league play, and a new Buddy Ball Field. For folks looking for some fun in the sand there are three sand volleyball courts and concession facilities located near the Recreation Complex. In addition to all of these facilities there is also a skate park, playgrounds.

The Cody Park swimming pool features depths from three feet to twelve feet. There are three diving boards and a kiddie pool. Inner tubes are available for rent.

The JR Raceway creates the opportunity for kids to experience the thrill of dirt track, go kart racing, in a safe and controlled environment. The north side park is the Happy Hound Retreat, located at 301 West 18th. Go north on North Jeffers Street to North 18th Street and turn West.

Memorial Park sits right in the heart of North Plat teandof fersgreat recreationalopportunities as well as some of the best viewing areas in the city for the annual Nebraskaland Days Parade. There are several open areas for picnicking and general recreational use as well as a large playground area. A Union Pacific small steam locomotive is on display for viewing only. There is a gazebo shelter available to rent and one of the Community Unity Tile Sculptures is on display in this park. Located between Bryan and Tabor on East 4th Street this park consists of approximately four square blocks. Within the park are: Two hard-surfaced tennis courts that are free to use as well as a multi-purpose court. There are restroom facilities open from April 15th through October 15th.
