Great Plains Health Located in south central Nebraska, Great Plains Health in North Plat te, Nebraska is a non-profit, fully accredited, 116- bed regional referral center serving west Nebraska, northern Kansas and northern Colorado. Named Nebraska’s first and only Top Rural Hospital by The Leapfrog Group, the Great Plains Health primary and secondary service area spans a region approximately the size of Pennsylvania, covering 38 counties, approximately 67,832 square miles and 136,000 lives. With nearly 100 physicians representing 30 medical specialties, the Great Plains Health system of fers advanced medical services including heart and vascular, cancer, orthopedic services, women’s services and a level III trauma center. The system employs approximately 1,130 employees and has nearly 200 volunteers. The range of patient populations served includes neonate, pediatric, adult, obstetric and geriatric.
