Sinwa Renews, Expands Collaboration With XSYS Chinese platemaker Sinwa Printech, also known as Sinwa, has recently integrated a ThermoFlexX Catena-WDLS washer, dryer, light finisher, and stacker unit from XSYS into its operations. Sinwa was the first trade shop in China to intro- duce CDI plate imager technology, according to the company. And in 2015, it took another step with the installation of a nyloflex NExT Exposure from Flint Group. The ThermoFlexX Catena-WDLS reportedly streamlines the platemaking workflow by minimiz- ing the need for manual intervention. Dow, Circusil To Build Silicone Recycling Plant Dow and Circusil have partnered to construct their first commercial scale silicone recycling plant in North America. This facility will recycle silicone waste streams from Dow’s U.S. operations, as well as post-indus- trial waste streams from customers. Operations are targeted to begin in the fourth quarter of 2024. The strategic investment marks a substantial milestone in Dow’s silicone circu- larity journey and will allow the company to produce silicone polymers derived from silicone waste and end-of-life products originating from U.S. operations. The advanced recycling process that will be used at the new facility contributes to enhanced sustain- ability, according to the company. In addition to achieving silicone recycling by closing the loop and ultimately reintroducing the recycled silicone prod- uct into silicone production, it also aims to reduce the overall carbon footprint. Recycled silicones ex- hibit a lower carbon footprint, compared to silicone manufactured from virgin material. For Dow’s U.S. customers, this new facility in Par- is, Kentucky, once completed, will generate the op- portunity to: • Recycle silicone waste from their own opera- tions and therefore reduce their carbon footprint and Scope 1 or 3 emissions associated with waste treatment. • Ultimately have access to recycled based sili- cone polymers to address the growing demand for circular solutions. • Accelerate progress toward their own sustain- ability objectives.
