40 x 42 in Acrylic 1992

America’s America The colors of the flag fall downwards, the white stars in the blue rectangle seem to shatter, sent forth from the middle of the painting like emissions madly whirling out, breaking up the deep vivid blue. In the middle a burst of gold explodes and sends out coins of wealth that flourish across the canvas. It holds the American colors, the essential red, white and blue, intermingled with gold representing materialism. What is clear is the extraordinary play of colors, the beautifica - tion of the American as an ancient and legendary symbol made abstract. If this is America’s America, it is an America reimagined. “Born out of revolution it still stays tried and true.”
