Periodontal Standards of Care: Diagnosis & Management
As dentists it is our job to properly identify and diagnosis the various periodontal conditions to ensure appropriate care is being rendered to our patients. But even with accurate identification, the challenge of explaining the importance of care in ways patients grasp and see reason to address is key. Discussions on how to best explain the disease process, risks of not treating and the need for care will be explored for an array of procedures to bolster maintenance programs and increase case acceptance. We will also consider the new periodontal classification system and where it fits in terms of didactic and practical initiation for patient management. This lecture will offer a thorough review of the major sub-divisions which fall under the specialty of periodontics including management of periodontal disease, crown lengthening (esthetic & functional) and mucogingival defects (soft tissue grafting) and how these can be

The Endodontic Diagnostic Puzzle The journey to definitive treatment starts with arriving to an accurate diagnosis. Extraoral and intraoral examinations, together with radiographic interpretation are important parts of the overall diagnosis process. A step-by-step, methodical approach will be presented in order to aid the dental practitioner to arrive at the correct pulpal diagnosis and treatment plan. These steps will be discussed at length. The attendees will participate in arriving at an accurate diagnosis for the cases that will be presented. Learning Objectives: • Understand the symptoms that lead to properly diagnosing pulpal disease • Learn how to proceed with a systematic method for clinical examination and testing • Arrive at an accurate diagnosis to provide the correct treatment plan.
