BAFE accreditation for ESP

ESP is proud to announce that it has been awarded BAFE accreditation for its fire design service. BAFE is the independent registration body for Third Party Certified fire safety providers across the UK, and ESP now appears on the National BAFE Fire Safety Register. BAFE manages and maintains a scheme called BAFE SP203-1 which covers Fire Detection and Alarm Systems. This scheme exists to deliver quality, independent evidence that providers like ESP, are competent to deliver fire system designs for its fire detection and alarm systems. ESP is only permitted to become BAFE Registered and appear on the national BAFE Fire Safety Register once the company holds the appropriate/valid Third-Party Certification. ESP continues to meet the criteria of the relevant BAFE Scheme. This establishes robust evidence of competency requirements that demonstrates the provider’s commitment to quality. It also provides assurances to ESP’s customers that the company will deliver a fire system that complies with all the relevant British Standards. For support with any fire system design requirements, ESP can be contacted at design@espuk.com

Access toApprenticeship Programme for Designer Group

Designer Group was delighted to host the most recent student visits to its Training Academy at the end of 2021. The excursion gave students a great insight into life as an apprentice at Designer Group and demonstrated the value which the company places on apprenticeships and the importance of them to the business and the construction industry. Designer Group has been involved with the Access to Apprenticeship programme since its inception in 2017. The programme was put in place to provide pre-apprenticeship training in a variety of skills over 16 weeks for young men and women from different socio-economic backgrounds. It also allows them to gain access to employers, such as

Designer Group, via ‘Speed Dating’ interviews, work experience and visits to employers’ facilities or training centres such as theirs. Brendan Kearns, Training Director

at Designer Group said: “We will continue to support the

programme led by Bobby Maher and Therese Fitzgerald who are great mentors and role models for all the students past, present and future.” Designer Group has successfully employed many of the students graduating from the Access to Apprenticeship programme, all of whom have proven to be fantastic apprentices and now have the opportunity for further learning through the business, building a long and rewarding career.

Irish engineering firmgives backwith€100k donation Kirby Group Engineering made an outstanding donation of €100,000 at the end of last year to be split among three charities. Focus Ireland received €50,000 and Women’s Aid and UNICEF each collected €25,000. 2021 was the second year in a row in which the Irish firm has made a donation of this amount, continuing its longstanding tradition of supporting those in need. Group Managing Director Mark Flanagan said it’s an important feature of their calendar. “We’ve come through another very difficult year in Ireland in 2021 and this is a good opportunity for Kirby to support some of those who have felt the tough times the most. We’re proud to play our part in helping three fantastic charities doing great work in Ireland and around the world.” The Christmas donation follows contributions worth a further €160,000 from Kirby to local, national and international charities last year. www.kirbygroup.com
