With great enthusiasm I invite you to learn more about Morrissey Compton's "Ways to Win" Fund. With the pandemic behind us, the office is starting to slowly shift back to "normal". With staff working in their offices, it's nice to hear their voices and the voices of our students filling the hallways and lobby. It's such a joy to be able to fulfill our mission in flexible ways by providing both in-person and Zoom options for our clients and their families. At the heart of this...we want to continue to provide extraordinary services to our students and families. So, please consider supporting the Ways to Win Fund!

"WAYS TO WIN"
The Ways to Win Fund supports our operational budget and enables us to provide the highest quality diagnostic, education and mental health support services for those with learning challenges. Morrissey Compton requires $3,000,000 annually in order to make our services available to our community. With your help we would like to raise 10% of our annual expenses, setting our goal at $300,000 for 2023. Learn more in the following section. What is the "Ways to Win" Fund?

Why "Ways to Win" ?
"Always, Always looking for Wins" - Pat Morrissey
Many of you know the story of Morrissey Compton, the rich history, and legacy it holds. Two strong, caring, and innovative women with a passion for education and empowering those that learn differently. In having the opportunity to sit down with Pat and Carolyn for a cup of tea and scones, they shared something with me that put the biggest smile on my face. In their fun banter, they explained to me what made MC and Challenge School so special...It was that they were always looking for ways that the children could win. Throughout the school year the students faced their learning challenges daily...right in their face, at all times. So, when the students showed up for Challenge School the MC team was looking for the things to celebrate, to excite, and to honor their wins. In came the yellow shirts, the green hats, and of course all the blue ribbons. It's all so true, that when faced with difficulties and someone finds the win and celebrates it, everyone wins! -Jill Notch Senior Development Officer

During the days of Challenge School and in pursuit of always looking for ways to win...our team wanted to gift each child the opportunity to say "I did it, today I won the yellow shirt". Our gift levels reflect the spirit of winning and giving, while paying tribute to our MC legacy. Below is a little history of how those items were rewarded. BEHIND THE GIFT LEVELS
Each day the "Yellow Shirt" was awarded to a child who had "taken the lead" in one way or another. These students were recognized for their leadership by wearing the yellow shirt for the day. Students earned the yellow shirt by helping others, trying a new approach to a task or by giving extra effort in the classroom. Each week the aides quizzed each class on the five facts their class created. If students answered all five facts correctly, their names were placed in the green hat for a prize drawing. One of our favorite traditions at Challenge School was the competitions. Each student participated in two academic and two non-academic events of their choice. The students were grouped by ability level and age. A ribbon was earned by each participant. These accomplishments were celebrated at our awards ceremony on the final day of school. Each day when a student was observed following the routine or showing extra effort on their classroom work...they received a star sticker.
