was inducted into the 2022 Class of Fellows for the American Association of Nurse Practitioners. The same year, he taught advanced pathophysiology to 14 nurses studying to be oncology nurse practitioners at Ponticia Universidad Católica de Chile (UC) nursing school in Santiago. “This is the rst program in Chile where they are ofcially and formally educating students into the role of the nurse practitioner,” he says.

Denise Vidot, Ph.D., associate professor, was interviewed by Cannabis Science and Technology regarding her investigation into “Co-use of Cannabis and Psilocybin to Manage Mental Health Amid the COVID-19 Pandemic.” In addition, she presented at the Cannabis Science

John M. Clochesy, Ph.D., R.N., retired in December 2022 after ve years of service at SONHS. During a party in his honor, Dr. Clochesy’s colleagues, led by Dean Cindy L. Munro, wished him the very best in his

future endeavors and thanked him for his multifaceted contributions as vice dean, professor, and director of evaluation and strategic initiatives.

Yui Matsuda, Ph.D., P.H.N.A.-B.C., R.N., M.P.H., assistant professor, coauthor, with nurse scientist Danielle Altares Sarik, of a chapter published in Worldwide Successful Pediatric Nurse-led Models of Care , a 2023 book edited by Cecily L. Betz and published by Springer (doi:10.1007/978-3-031-22152-1_3). Their 26-page chapter, titled “Baby Steps: Improving the Transition from Hospital to Home for Neonatal Patients and Caregivers Through a Nurse-Led Telehealth Program,” describes the nurse-led telehealth transition of care intervention for infants in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) and their caregivers that co-creators Drs. Matsuda and Danielle Altares Sarik pioneered and implemented at Miami’s Nicklaus Children’s Hospital with an interprofessional team of researchers, NICU professionals, and telehealth specialists to address a gap in care after discharge. “The program focused on providing integral support during the discharge process and after the infant returned to home and community,” states their chapter’s abstract. The Baby Steps program has impacted over 400 families.
