ATC ‘22 ARBORPALOOZA: EXPLORING THE WIDE WORLD OF TREES

Can You Be Rescued? Simple Solutions to Improve Climber Safety Monday, October 3, 2022 | 2:10 pm to 3:40 pm (1.5 CEUs) Presenters: Craig Bachmann & Karsten Foerster Location: Boardroom 5 (7th floor) Working in large trees in the Pacific Northwest requires climbing that can make aerial rescue extremely difficult. In the event of an incident or injury, a well-trained team is essential. But one factor is often overlooked - the “rescu-ability” of the climber. Emergency preparedness must include properly configured climbing sys - tems that facilitate rescue in the event of an incapacitating injury. This program focuses on the strategies and techniques needed to improve climber rescu-ability in both tree care and removal situations. With this knowledge, climbing arborists will be better equipped for self-rescue, and teams will be better prepared to suc - cessfully rescue an injured climber.
