We tend to discuss trees as monolithic. Large upright beings with little to distin - guish one from another other than appearance. This general session will explore the wide diversity of the tree world, highlight their amazing differences in structure and function, and how this should shape our care of them.
John Ball is a Professor of Forestry at South Dakota State Univer - sity where he instructs courses in arboriculture and forestry. He also serves as a campus arborist.
