It'S ASTOUNDING! It's AMAZING! It's TRUE! Our file bears out this fact.

$10 invested in Child Evangelism often means that 3 more children will make a first-time decision for Christ (hence $3.33Vi» per child). Weigh this against an estimated $10,000 to win one adult for Christ. Helping win children to Christ is a sound investment. Write for information. Ask for FREE copy of Child Evangelism Magazine. stations of the old Columbia Broad casting System: Spokane, Seattle, Tacoma, Portland, San Francisco, Fresno and Los Angeles. Due to financial difficulties, the program folded in May of the same year. Another drain on the dwindling funds of the Institute was its min istry in China. With the help of Dr. Frank Keller, who had been a mis sionary with the China Inland Mis sion, the Bible Institute founded the Hunan Bible Institute during the early twenties. Through the en couragement of T. C. Horton and Lyman Stewart, Milton Stewart underwrote most of the expense of building B i o l a ’ s training center in China. Milton Stewart poured some $355,000 into getting the buildings erected and his wife gave another $139,000 to operate the school from 1922 to 1928. The 10-acre campus was located on the main arterial highway from Hankow to Canton, and midway between the northern and southern sections of the city of Changsha. By the start of the de pression, B i o l a was contributing some 30 to 40 thousand dollars a year to the China work. Now the board decided this must be drasti cally curtailed. The summer school, correspond

ence school, evening school, music department, library, Bible women, sailors’ work, shop and book store were either stopped or trimmed as much as possible. The full-time faculty was slashed to eight. Many months from 1930 through 1940 the business office was unable to meet the payroll. The school’s printing press was sold to the Stationers’ Corporation. The 13-story north wing of the Insti tute building was leased to the Wil lard Hotel Company. At one period the Salvation Army even discussed with the board the possibility of buying the buildings. In December 1932, the school couldn’t even pay its taxes. Negotiations were begun with the Security First National Bank which already held stagger ing claims against the school. Offi cials at Security First National were sympathetic to the plight of the school and agreed to advance the money to meet the real property tax bill. In November 1932 in the midst of this financial nightmare, Dr. Louis T. Talbot became acting pres ident. At the time, he was pastor of the Church of the Open Door and a popular radio minister. The next year he was made president of the

The first Gentile Christians were won through Jewish evangelism. Foi centuries that debt has lain unacknowl edged. Only in our day is any reaf effort being made to repay it. Today the need and opportunity foi witness to Jews are great. The Inter national Board is confronted with de mands for the Scriptures, more mis sionaries, and with human need foi material relief which are beyond its capacity to meet. Several missionaries are urgently needed m Mexico, South America and France. We have under taken to aid 10 missionaries of the British Jews Society of Germany.
