Rosemead Graduate School of Psychology Catalog: 1980-1982

February 15. Superior GRE scores are highly desirable, though not the sole criterion for admission. (4) Submit completed profiles (not answer sheets) of the Minnesota Multi phasic Personality Inventory (MMPI) and the Strong-Campbell Interest Inventory (SC II). These tests should be taken at a college testing service or from a licensed psychologist. Rosemead will not make copies of tests sent for admissions purposes at any time. Applicants are referred to the source from which the testing was originally administered. (5) Submit five letters of recommendation on forms supplied by the school. Three of these are academic references and two are character references (pastor and personal friend). (6) Appear for a personal interview with the Admissions Committee or its representative. Arrangements are made by the Committee following a preliminary screening of applications after February 15. Only those who are finalists in Rosemead's admissions procedure, determined by the preliminary screening, will be scheduled for a personal interview. For finalists from the general southern California area, interviews are held on campus at La Mirada. Arrangements will be made by the Director of Admissions for those outside the southern California area. Interviews are conducted in a number of cities throughout the country, generally in late February or early March. Since Rosemead's programs emphasize profes sional experience, it is important that students possess the personality strengths and character to function effectively in a variety of interpersonal and professional relationships. Personal as well as academic screening avoids the pitfalls of admitting a student to a course of study for which he is potentially unsuited. A non-refundable fee of $50 is due and payable following arrangements for the interview. It is emphasized that possession of the minimum academic requirements does not ensure admission to graduate study at Rosemead. As with all quality doctoral programs in clinical psychology, admission to the Rosemead pro grams is highly competitive. The application deadline is February 15. No waivers are permitted for any item of the application procedures, nor is permission granted for any waiver of application or personal interview fees. NOTICE OF DECISIONS The Admissions Committee will process applications as quickly as possible following the February 15 deadline, though time must be allowed for comple tion of personal interviews. Those whose application does not pass the pre liminary screening will be notified immediately. It is the responsibility of the applicant to make sure that all application materials have been received. If there is any doubt, the applicant should write to the Admissions Office for verifica tion. When an application has been completed, the school will send a notice to the applicant. If such a notice has not been received, it may be assumed that the application file is not yet complete. 38
