DEGREE REQUIREMENTS

REQUIREMENTS FOR THE TERMINAL MASTERS PROGRAM

Rosemead' s terminal M.A. requires a total of 60* hours of course work over a two-year period with the following distribution: Psychology: The psychology requirement constitutes a minimum of 45 hours, including Pre-Practicum (RPSY 690) and 6 hours of Practicum experi­ ence (RPSY 691-692). Theology: The program requires 9 hours in Theology, including RTHE 510; RTHE 621, and RTHE 622. Integration Seminars: M.A. students must take a minimum of 3 hours in the Integration of Psychology and Theology, (either RPTI 721 or RPTI 722). Professional growth experiences include three semesters (or 60 hours) of group therapy. Transfer credit from accredited graduate schools or seminaries may be applied where appropriate to the M.A. program, but not to exceed 9, hours in psychology and/ or 9 hours in theology. One Practicum may be transferred with the permission of the Director of Clinical Training (see under General Academic Information). A minimum of one year of residence is required for the M.A. degree. Most students will, however, require a full two years of study to complete the program. A curriculum outline for the M.A. degree is found elsewhere in this catalog. A faculty advisor is assigned to each M.A. student for consultation and program planning. REQUIREMENTS FOR DOCTORAL PROGRAMS (1) RESIDENCE AND COURSE WORK A minimum of four years of residence is required for the doctorate. While the doctorate is not awarded simply for completion of stated course work, there are basic unit requirements for the degree (133 semester hours). Each student is assigned a faculty advisor who assists in the planning of each semester's schedule of courses and supervises the student's progress in the program. For transfer credit, see under General Academic Information. Psychology: Ph.D. students must complete a minimum of 88 semester hours in psychology in addition to a doctoral dissertation. This includes at least 76 academic units, of which 12 units must be selected from PLB elective psychotherapy courses, and 12 units of practicum. Psy.D. students must complete a minimum of 98 semester hours in psychology. This includes at least 80 academic units, of which 21 units must be selected from PLB elective psychotherapy courses, and 18 units of practicum. Theology: All students must complete a minor in theology which includes a minimum of 18 semester units.
