RPSY 633 ADVANCED SEMINAR IN PSYCHOPATHOLOGY (3)

A survey of the development, dynamics and classification of the psychological disorders from a psychoanalytic point of view. Special attention is given to the neuroses and to the operations of ego defense mechanisms. (Elective.) RPSY 690 PREPRACTICUM (2) Primary interpersonal skills and counseling techniques are assessed and facili­ tated prior to the student's first practicum field experience. Various training techniques are employed in a small group setting. These include empathy training, demonstrations, and audio-video feedback. (Required.) RPSY 691-696 PRACTICUM (3) Individually supervised clinical experiences including diagnostic and ther­ apeutic activities with inpatient and outpatient clientele. Hospitals, private and public clinics, mental health organizations, schools and college counseling centers are utilized. RPSY 691-692 are required for the M.A., RPSY 691-694 for the Ph.D. and RPSY 691-696 for the Psy.D. Prerequisite: Successful completion of RPSY 690, or approval of the Profes­ sional Training Committee.

RPSY 697-699 ELECTIVE PRACTICUM (l-3)

For students desiring supervised clinical experiences beyond the requirements of their degree program. Not more than 3 hours of additional practicum may be counted as elective psychology credit. Prerequisite: Approval of the Director of Clinical Training. (Elective.) RPSY 701 COLLEGE TEACHING OF PSYCHOLOGY (2) A seminar on teaching methods including the development of course objec­ tives, outlines, lectures and evaluations. Major emphasis is placed on the examination of the various teaching methods available to the teacher of psychology. (Elective.) RPSY 703 ORGANIZATION AND ADMINISTRATION OF PSYCHOLOGICAL SERVICES (2) A seminar dealing with administrative issues such as personnel, finances, community relations, and supervision. (Elective.) RPSY 704 ADVANCED RESEARCH DESIGN (3) A continuation of PSY 601 for students interested in pursuing dissertation research. The course will include advanced study of univariate and multivariate analysis of variance, regression analysis, canonical and discriminant analysis, and factor analysis. Required for all Ph.D. students. Prerequisite: RPSY 601.
