MICHAEL HWANG SC, INDEPENDENT ARBITRATOR AND CHIEF JUSTICE OF THE DIFC COURTS Michael Hwang SC has been the non-resident Chief Justice of the Dubai International Financial Courts since 2010. He is also a BoardMember of the Higher Board of Directors of the Dubai International Financial Centre. He practices as an international arbitrator and provides advisory opinions as a Senior Counsel. Michael is accredited to act as an arbitrator under over 30 arbitral centres, which have included the Permanent Court of Arbitration and ICSID. In 1997 he was appointed as one of the first twelve Senior Counsel (SC) of the Supreme Court of Singapore. He has also served as a Commissioner of the UN Compensation Commission, amember of the International Court of Arbitration of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) and as Vice President of the International Council for Commercial Arbitration (ICCA).

Sapna is based in the Clyde&Co Singapore office. Her key focus is international commercial arbitration and she has been involved as counsel or arbitrator in over 40 arbitrations. Sapna is called to the Bar of England andWales, and spent several years in practice at the Independent Bar in London before joining Clyde&Co’s Dubai office in 2006. She relocated to Singapore in 2011. In her career she hasmanaged commercial disputes spanning awide range of industries and governed by different institutional rules such as those of the ICC, LCIA, SIAC, SCMA, and DIAC.
