GIVING BACK TO THE COMMUNITY THAT SAVED ME
BY BETH MT
I am still sober and stronger than ever in my sobriety, and I can say hand on heart that I would not be if it wasn’t for Susan and Hola Sober.
Why Click Sober?
Click Sober was an idea that I had been playing with for a while. I run the Instagram account for Hola Sober myself and Susan often made mock-ups of t- shirts. Which would invariably lead to comments such as, ‘I need this T-shirt!’. So, when one day Susan and I were chatting the subject came up and I decided to go for it. Choosing to go with sober apparel is more than just a business decision. Each design, every piece of clothing, is a tribute to sobriety. No matter how subtle it may be. By wearing these pieces, individuals can not only celebrate their sobriety but also spread a message of hope and resilience to others. The Summer Sun Not Today design has produced a little community all of its own, I think it may now be part of the Hola Sober uniform! It's easy to underestimate the strength and support a community can provide until you are part of one like Hola Sober. Hola Sober was my lifeline, offering unwavering support and understanding when I needed it most. By donating 20% of the profits from the apparel store, I aim to channel resources back to this community, it is the least I can do. It’s also why the success of this venture is so important to me. I can never give back everything I have gained from Hola Sober, but by growing this brand, hopefully, I can give back in a practical way. I also like the idea of the pieces being conversation starters or for the more subtle pieces, they are a gentle nod to fellow sober people, that we understand, and we are the same.
DONNA ASHWORTH IN CLICK SOBER
On 21st June 2021 I was at my wits end. I had reached the end of my tether with alcohol, and I desperately needed to stop. But I also needed a community to help me to stop. I knew that the secret to staying sober for me was to be held accountable for my drinking. And I also knew that without sober connections, I would fail again. On the 24th of June 2021, quite by accident, I came across the Hola Sober website. I emailed Susan, who was immediately warm and welcoming, introducing me to Linda who also immediately made me feel welcome and very much like I belonged. And the rest is history. I had found my tribe. I had found real sober friends and I had found my sober home.
