Hola Sober OCTOBER

"I went to an annual labour day celebration with fabulous fireworks last weekend. The adults were drinking alcohol and smoking funny weed with the intent to enhance the experience. As the fireworks began my 12-year-old granddaughter grabbed my hand and said, "Nana, can we sit in that patch of grass in the front row?" Yes, we can! We carried our beach chairs over to the area and released the back so we were lying back looking up at the stars. The fireworks started and the sky became alive with color, red, blue, and white crackling sparkles rained down upon us. It was a three-dimensional experience as the booming sound of the explosions echoed off the water and the colors reflected off it. The sky was alive. As the fireworks fell to the ground it felt like we were rising to meet them. While the adults were drinking and smoking their way to an enhanced experience we were living it. In the middle of all of it, her clear little voice smiled at me and said, 'Nana, it's like being on a roller coaster ride." That's what a clear, unadulterated, beautiful, clear, child-like brain sees.

She was right.

Best fireworks of my life, seeing them through the eyes of a child and my freaking wonderful sober powerful brain.

Not today lady, not today."

End of story. Sober gold. Love Nat x
