Editorial
In 2024, QCM underwent one of its most significant changes since being founded in 1999. After 25 years of service, QCM’s leader and owner, Markus Enck, made the decision to sell the company to a new team of investors through a management buyout (MBO). This team includes long-term management members Luke Oppliger and Christian Schusser, who have been with QCM for 18 years and 17 years, respectively, and each bring extensive experience and fresh perspectives. Despite the change in ownership, QCM will continue operating as usual, with no major operational changes expected. Throughout 2024, we trained more than 3,000 aviation professionals worldwide, highlighting the ongoing need for both initial and continuation regulatory training. Looking ahead, Part-IS will likely be the biggest challenge for approved organizations in 2025. Implementation will occur in October 2025 for Part-21J design organizations, and early 2026 for all others. Needless to say, QCM will be ready to assist with training and implementing these new requirements.
We’re also launching a new Air Operations training for helicopter operators in early 2025, covering not only the commercial requirements, but also the specialized operations (SPO) requirements.
Finally, we’re exploring new ways to help our clients reduce costs related to training. One approach is to offer open trainings in more locations across Europe , allowing participation in training with minimal travel and hotel expenses. More details will be shared on our website, newsletter, and social media in due time.
QCM Part-147 Approval
The future looks promising for our Part-147 training organization, with several exciting developments on the horizon. In 2024, we successfully completed a consulting project with the University of Geneva related to basic training, which led to the client being granted Part-147 approval by the Swiss civil aviation authority (FOCA). This approval allows our client to combine Swiss apprenticeships with Part-66 Basic knowledge for professional training and licensing of Part-66 mechanics.
We are also exploring new locations for basic training exams to increase access for students.
In 2025, in response to the implementation of EMARs in Switzerland, QCM will continue to support Swiss organizations with the licensing of mechanics and the implementation of these requirements.
When it comes to aircraft qualifications, QCM remains in high demand for business aircraft type training in Europe. In 2024, we strengthened our Bombardier training capabilities by hiring a highly qualified instructor, allowing us to offer type ratings for key Bombardier aircraft.
Our flexibility and responsiveness to the ever-evolving aviation industry have kept us relevant for 25 years, positioning QCM as a leader in training and a trusted partner for organizations that value quality and comprehensive education. Part-147 Approved Basic & Type Rating Trainings
QCM is a FOCA-approved provider of Part-147 Basic and Aircraft Type trainings. Our approved Basic ratings include A1, B1.1, B1.3, B2, and C, and we have an extensive range of aircraft type courses available, mainly on “Bombardier” and “Learjet” aircraft, with more to come in the future. See Page 8 for our full scope of approved trainings. Part-147 Basic Examinations For personnel requiring an Aircraft Maintenance License (AML), QCM offers comprehensive examination services. We are approved by the Federal Office of Civil Aviation (FOCA) to conduct examinations in the following categories:

We provide a wide range of self-study materials and the option to receive personalized guidance from experienced instructors, allowing for thorough preparation for their exams. Once ready, participants can complete the required examinations. Aircraft Type Rating Training Our FOCA-approved type rating courses are taught by qualified experts with extensive firsthand experience on their designated aircraft. Our Type Training Programs include: Theoretical Training (classroom or distance learning) : In-depth information about specific aircraft types, their systems, and operational requirements, with a classroom exam at the end to assess participants’ knowledge. Practical Training (hangar) : Hands-on component allowing participants to apply their theoretical knowledge to real aircraft and gain practical experience. Participants’ ability to perform in real- world settings is evaluated with an on-site assessment.
For those pursuing Category B2 certification, QCM offers differential training from B1 to B2, enabling your staff to expand their qualifications efficiently in a shorter duration.
By keeping our group sizes to a maximum of 10 participants for theoretical training and 5 for practical training, we create an optimal learning environment in which participants can ask questions to clarify knowledge, and the course material can be tailored to their existing skill level. This approach ensures that the aviation personnel we train are able to maintain and operate the selected aircraft to the highest standards.
General Familiari s ation Training QCM also offers General Familiarisation Training for all type ratings listed in the table.
These courses are designed to provide a broad overview of the aircraft systems and operational aspects involved. This is particularly beneficial for individuals who work in supporting roles within aircraft maintenance and modification environments, including Continuing Airworthiness Management Organization (CAMO) activities and Design. While there is no formal examination required for General Familiarisation Training, participants will receive a Certificate of Attendance upon completion of the course. Assessment Preparation & Coaching
In our Assessment Preparation & Coaching sessions, intructors will coach participants through the EASA system & Basic Regulation, the applicable regulations and their implementation in detail, and relevant internal documentation. To ensure that the preparation session is tailored to the needs of the participant, sessions are typically one-on-one with the instructor (maximum 2 participants).
